Rose Parade Float Preview
Artist concept drawing. It's pretty close, no?
I live in Southern California and live the digital lifestyle. I love technology, engage in social networks and thanks to the Amazon Kindle enjoy reading again. I listen to many podcasts and am interested in the paranormal. I don't go ghost hunting or anything like that, but I love reading, viewing and listening to a great fright!

Mom's Flight School
One of two drivers driving the float.
After the funeral services, the skies cleared and we happened upon South Pasadena's float entry. They were testing the wings of the baby dragon seen being coddled by mom. The baby dragon's wings flap and the mom's legs extend, lifting the baby high into the air.
There was an air of awe and excitement among the spectators gathered for the first look at the nearly completed float. We're hoping it doesn't rain tomorrow, as it will make it difficult for the flowers to maintain their adhesiveness.

Our day begins with funeral services for our friend Roadrunner, whose mother died on Christmas Eve. Mrs. C had been ill for sometime, but regardless, death is never something that can be prepared for especially during the holidays. It's pouring outside - just coming down in buckets - and I'm praying that it subsides by the time we arrive at the cemetary. The holidays have always been very sad and depressing for Roadrunner, the passing of her mother will only add to a challenging season. Time to go. We've got a good drive ahead of us in lousy weather.
In anticipation of the celebration and merriment planned for tonight. I hope everyone has a festive and safe New Year's Eve celebration!

Home Early
Praise the Lord, we got off early today and no work tomorrow. Woo hoo! It was very bizarre. Several of us caught wind that an early departure was high probable. Many of us waited all morning for confirmation and the final "go ahead" before allowing ourselves to feel giddy.
Well, I got the call around 11:55 a.m. and was instructed to let everyone else know. I did as requested and found that most, continued lingering and socializing. It was as if, now that it had been confirmed, it ceased being an issue or concern. They were now content to hang out and joke, etc.
Not me, though. I hightailed it out of there and rushed home. In my hurry, I forgot that I wanted to drive up to Pasadena and check out all the folks lining Colorado Boulevard, in anticipation of Saturday's Rose Parade. I know they're there and I know they've chained chairs to parking meters in sorry hope of saving a prized spot.
Anyway, once I messed that up, I couldn't motivate myself to leave. Especially since we'll be out late tonight. B. has to help an associate with his invoices and he's in Orange County - about a good 30 miles from us. While it's no big deal, I would have much preferred to remain home.
I still can't believe tomorrow's New Year's Eve. This is it, folks. The end of another year. Where did it all go? Why do the years pass so quickly? Is just me or do you feel the same? Is it an age thing...once you're over thirty the time starts flying? It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating my mom's birthday (which is in March) and looking forward to spring's arrival.
Let's pray that the New Year brings an end to the war and much rebuilding and relief to those affected by the massive 9.0 earthquake and tsunami.

I can hardly believe it’s almost 2005. This past year went by very quickly.
1) It’s almost 2005 and that means it will be a new year and the time when many feel it is a chance to complete all those ignored tasks of 2004 – - so in keeping with the tradition of many, do you have any resolutions? Yup...I'll record them quickly and then never read them again. It seems that I have a tendency to self sabotage myself. So, if I don't know, I can't screw it up, right?!
- Spend quality with B. and Buddah
- Spend quality time with my mom
- Lose weight
- Post a photo a day to my photo blog
- Read the Bible in its entirety
- Read two books (that's a challenge for me)
- Save money
- Exercise three times weekly
- Get even more use out of my Disneyland Passport
- Work on maintaining friendships with retirees. It's so hard when I don't see them anymore and one, in particular, doesn't do email!!!
2) What will you be doing when the clock strikes midnight?
I'll be with B. and uh, who knows!
3) Instead of making a list of news, political, entertainment and other events that took place during 2004 I thought I’d just break it down into favorites. What were your favorites in 2004?
Favorite Movie: Saw an awesome psychological thriller that scared me good!
Favorite Song: Um, none that I want to publish! LOL
Favorite TV Show: The Wire
Favorite Political Event: The Bruce Springsteen fundraising concert
Favorite Product: Palm PDA
Favorite Person: B.
Favorite Book: Angel Cats: Divine Messengers of Comfort by Allen & Linda Anderson
Favorite Magazine: Us
Favorite News Outlet: CNN
5) Time to spread some ringing in the new year “Blogcess” linky love. These are some of my latest additions to the blogroll. Sorry, I don't maintain a Blogroll, but it's coming!

UPS Order
I received one of my orders from QVC today, it was four days late due to the severe weather in Kentucky. It's a perishable item that was "guaranteed delivery for Christmas". It didn't make it, thanks to Mother Nature, but QVC is making good on the order and replacing it. Now, if I can just get my electric toothbrush and blouse I ordered, I'll be happy.
Both Amazon and eBay are the top online retailers this holiday and analysts attribute this to accepting orders later in the season and no delivery glitches. I didn't do any online ordering this year - not one item! You know, I didn't need to because I found everything I was looking for on sale at local brick and mortar stores. They were very competitive and I didn't feel compelled to search online. How did you fair?
I remember when the first thing I would do is price compare online against the Sunday ads. I can't remember when I last id this with regularity. It seems the brick and mortar stores understand the ease with which we can compare and our eager to make the sale as painless and hassle free as possible. I think it's great, it's a win-win situation for the consumer.
I bought a bunch - like $60 worth of daily calendars - yesterday at 50% discount. Yep, had I not waited until after Christmas, it would have cost at least $120 and there's no way I could justify spending that on calendars. I know some are thinking me nuts, as it is, but I enjoy receiving and giving them as gifts. Especially the ones that give you a chance to recreate while at the office (i.e. Scrabble, Word Find, Brain Teasers). I think they're the gift that keeps on giving!
Guess I better sign off...it's raining buckets as I type and the thunder and lightning has started. I don't want to chance frying the computer of getting a surge through the modem. It seems we're in for a very wet week. On the drive in this morning, many streets were flooded and I felt very bad for pedestrians and bus riders. Reaching the curb was almost impossible because of all the water.

TV Tuesday
Best of 2004
It's the end of the year and it seems as if everyone is coming up with a list of the top television events and shows of 2004. So why not do the same thing for those of us who really know--the TV Tuesday crowd?
1. List your top shows/TV moments of the year. You can do top five, top ten, however you want.
Ugh, recalling a specific moment is very difficult for me, indeed. The only moment that I can recall is....Larry David from Curb Your Enthusiasm. He wants to attend a Dodger game and is stuck in West L.A. He wants to traverse the carpool lane, but needs a passenger.
Now you gotta understand, Larry's a presnickedy curmudgeon who gets into trouble just looking at people! He's approached by a "woman of the night" (only it's broad daylight) and he offers to pay her and take her to Dodger Stadium. She agrees and hilarium ensues.
2. List the best new TV show you've seen this year.
Well, if you mean network TV then it has to be Desperate Housewives and Boston Legal.
3. Tell us the worst new TV show you sampled this year. Don't really watch network TV but, even cable has its lemons. For me the worst is Growing Up Gotti and Dog: The Bounty Hunter.
4. Is there a show that got the axe last year that you wish hadn't? None that I know of. All of my cable faves have been renewed. It's too bad they take so darned so long!
5. What show that left the airwaves this last year had the best finale? Oooh, the two best cliff hangers have to be The Sopranos and The Wire. Hey, I'm a cable gal, what can I say?
Tuesday Twosome
A New Year is upon us...
1. Do you make resolutions and why (or why not)? I do, but I don't acknowledge that I do. It's the whole self defeating circle thing.
2. What two things do you want to change about yourself or your lifestyle in 2005? I want to save more money and spend even less next Christmas.
3. What are two important events that occurred in your life in 2004? My mom's exams came out with flying colors and Buddah's health was restored.
4. If you could change two things/events of 2004, what would they be? That the war in Iraq was truly ended and that the 9.0 earthquake in Asia had not occurred. The death toll has risen to 50,000!

- Effectively managing back, shoulder, neck and leg pain and enjoying life a lot more. This has taken me two plus years to figure out!
- Spending more quality time with mom and being in the moment to enjoy it.
- Continuing to improve the quality and amount of time B. and I spend together.
- Maintaining focus on goals and not berating myself over non-accomplishment. Sometimes doing your best is good enough.
- Getting Buddah's thyroid condiiton under control and reducing his meds. Poor baby was taking so many meds, he'd run from us. He's such a sweetheart. He'd never bite or scratch, just run and hide.
- I'm deathly afraid of dentists yet, I phoned in when I felt pain, instead of waiting until it became infected or swelled.
- Learning to be an effective listener.
- Learning not to jump up and offer assistance. That's my number one downfall; someone needs something done (that they're perfectly capable of, but unwilling to do) and I right away I say "I'll take care of it!" or "Don't worry about it, I'll do it." Needless to say, they never reciprocate.
- Maintaining my blogs and enjoying it.

Christmas, Etc.
We had a wonderful Christmas and an awesome holiday mini-vacation. We saw Ocean's 12 and Meet the Fockers on Christmas Eve. MTF was as funny to us, as the first film Meet The Parents. I know the critics bombed the film, but we loved it and laughed so much, we couldn't think of a better or more happier way to spend Christmas Eve.
We also saw O12 and found it rather confusing. Quite frankly, it's a DVD rental for us when it's released. Unlike Oceans Eleven where there's basically one scam going on and we're all on the same page, O12 has two but the audience isn't hip to it until the middle of the film.
Of course, it helps that this is the first Christmas in three years that we are not house or pet sitting. Doing so takes a lot of time out of our day and our neighbors always go away during the most stressful and busiest time of year: Christmas. This year, however, the adult son of our neighbor refused to go to Texas, so he gets to stay home and house and pet sit. I am so relieved and happy!
Christmas Day was spent at my mom's with family and we missed my mom's homemade tamales. We bought some but...they were just okay. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there again. So, I focused on the company and the spirit of the season. We also watched Elf, which I thought quite delightful and cute.
Sunday we had planned to do some after Christmas sales, but I just wasn't motivated to struggle with parking, lines and hassling for the items I wanted. So instead, we hung around the house and watched Love Actually and an encore performance of the Sopranos fifth season.
Today we did our after Christmas shopping and found everything we wanted, sans the lines, parking hassles and struggling. We had time to browse, chit chat about possibilities and buy birthday and Christmas 2005 gifts. Yup, I've already started my Christmas shopping for 2005! LOL
B. and I took our time looking around and shopping and we enjoyed being some of the few folks at the outdoor shopping center. It could be that most folks were at work or, the ominous clouds floating overhead may have scared some folks into remaining indoors. Either way, we did about $150.00 worth of damage and that was enough for us! LOL

Monday Madness
1) Which holiday do you celebrate this time of year? (If necessary, modify the following questions to suit your holiday.) Christmas and I'm very proud to be doing so.
2) Do you begin shopping for gifts earlier than Thanksgiving, looking for the perfect gift? If not, when do you begin? Absolutely. I've already begun shopping for Christmas 2005!
3) Do you only purchase gifts that you know are perfect for the recipient and if you don't find that gift, do you just get anything? Yes, I try to as hard as I can. If I can't, then it's gift cards to the rescue.
4) Did you receive or give any "obligatory" gifts this year? Hmmm, I don't believe so. My mom loves her TV Guide and B. gives her that every Christmas. I wouldn't consider it an obligation, though.
5) Do you decorate your tree as evenly as possible or do you skip the areas that are not visible? We don't set up or decorate a tree. Haven't had one in eleven years. However, don't think us Grinches, we're more the Griswolds, we decorate outside so that everyone can enjoy it.
6) Do you like multi-colors on your tree or do you prefer monochrome? I like multi-colored lights, as well as plain white. I don't like the mish mash of white and multi-colored lights. I like to get a theme going!
7) Did you bake "traditional" cookies, frost them and decorate them? or did you cheat and buy the ready to bake kind? (like I tried) Uh, cookies....I'm supposed to bake cookies? Why????
8) Are you the host of a holiday gathering? which one? family, work, friends. Negative to all.
9) With whom do you spend the holiday? My mom and family. It wouldn't be Christmas without my mom.
10) How did the holiday turn out? Perfectly? funny mishaps? miss anyone? It turned out great, though, there are always those moments of awkwardness when you're uncertain what to discuss. It always leads to a lull in the rhythm, know what I mean?

Weekday Capsule
- Our Twelve Days of Christmas was off with a bang this morning. We had Jimmy Dean sausages, hot dogs for lunch, hot chocolate, pan dulce and a delicious bundt cake. The gut's busting! LOL Honestly, I had only a slice of cake.
- Day two and we're going strong: we had enchilladas, rice and OJ.
- Traffic's light...guess the kids must be outta school and their peeps on vacation!
- Baking cookies and feeling like Betty Crocker, quickly wrapping gifts for co-worker's, burning Christmas CDs and listening to good Christmas music, that spouse barely tolerates. Christmas music is something I like and I'm pretty much alone.
- Our department luncheon was deeee-licious and the white elephant gift exchange - where any gift can be stolen from a person up to three times - was a loud, rambunctious success! LOL
- The more participants, the merrier, and it seems folks finally got in the spirit. It's the act of having fun, being together and enjoying ourselves.
- Our company breakfast was a hit! Lots and lots of folks participated with appearances by children performing piano recitals, poetry readings and singing. A visit from Santa attracted the big kids, while the true children were enthralled by other little people!
- Woo - hoo, leaving work early and loving it. The freeways were snarled and I don't even want to imagine what the malls look like now. LOL
- If you're doing last minute shopping, chin up, remember to drink lots of water, have some protein, wear comfortable shoes, have more than one form of payment (seriously, you never know when there's a problem), and pray!
- Tomorrow is Christmas Eve. For those celebrating the Eve, have a wonderful celebration and God bless!

It's Christmas Time!
Last night I was baking cookies and feeling like Betty Crocker, while quickly wrapping gifts for co-worker's, burning Christmas CDs and listening to good Christmas music - that spouse barely tolerates. Christmas music is something I like and I'm pretty much alone in this penchant.
Our department luncheon today was deeee-licious and the white elephant gift exchange - where any gift can be stolen from a person up to three times - was a loud, rambunctious success! LOL I came away with $20.00 and promptly spent it on the Elf DVD. Everyone who's scene this film has nothing but positive things to say about it, so I took the plunge and bought it without first renting it. I may have a new must-see Christmas film addition.
Tomorrow heralds the company breakfast at 7:30 a.m., so our groups are all set to attend together. The breakfast spread isn't anything uber special, but it's a nice respite and opportunity to see friends from the various departments and commiserate. Especially since it's the final day of the holiday weekend. Many folks are taking Friday off so, this is it as far as gift exchanges and well wishes. I hope everyone's doing great!
Almost forgot, I went to Circuit City and man, was the place hopping. I finally found the shoppers I've been wondering about! It was a mad house and parking was a bear. My mom opted to wait in the car, she didn't want to bother with the mess. All CDs regularly priced $10.99 - $13.99 are on sale now for $9.99. Now that's a sale you shouldn't miss. Sale is good Wednesday and Thursday only!

Mid-Week Music
What is your favorite winter holiday song?
My favorite is the duet between Bing Crosby & David Bowie, Peace On Earth/Little Drummer Boy. Most people (myself included, for a while) believed that the two had never actually sung together, that the duet was created with the wonders of modern recording technology. But, in fact, David Bowie and Bing Crosby did sing “Little Drummer Boy” together on Bing Crosby’s 42nd Annual Christmas Special, which aired in 1977 soon after the death of Mr. Crosby.
Hearing those two amazing voices together in one nostalgic, heart-touching song always brings a lump to my throat.
I have many holiday favorites, but two of mine are: Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee and Here Comes Santa Claus by The Mills Bros.

Ten New Year's Resolutions
- Lose weight (no surprise there, right?) LOL
- Read two books (hey, it had been years since I'd read a book. I managed to read two this year, which is an accomplishment I'm very proud of. Since I don't foresee next year being less stressful, I'd better stick to a realistic goal.
- Read the Bible in its entirety again, while learning and achieving better understanding. I will finish it this year in tandem with the calendar I have, but I must confess that the first read through, leaves me with many questions and some confusion. A second read will hopefully clarify things.
- Exercise. Not necessarily for weight loss or maintenance, but because it is the road to healthiness.
- Export blog to my own domain. I can't take the ups/downs and unexpected outages. I need reliability.
- Spend a week in Vegas and just have a joyful, relaxing time. I need to get away - physically away. Since we no longer go camping and I don't commune in nature, I need another outlet.
- Clean out the garage. (Hey, this task has been on the To Do List forever).
- Buy a new car. The newest one has a lot
- Meditate at least three times weekly for twenty minutes. I do so daily but in short sittings. I'd like more structured sittings.
- Complete photo Christmas cards for 2005. Hey, it didn't get done again this year, so I have to plan early for next! LOL

The Bicycle Mystery
Spouse maintains that this is an experiment conducted by the A. Police Department to see how safe our neighborhood is. I don't know what to think and am very concerned about what's become of the owner. After five weeks of remaining untouched, the cycle's seat was stolen sometime between 5:00 p.m. Monday and 6:30 a.m. today.
I'm rather sad, though, I didn't expect it to remain untouched forever. And, it's not like I believed our neighborhood had no crime, I know it does. We have a free monthly paper that shows the crime rate in four districts based on: burglary. robbery and grand theft auto. By far, the most crimes committed are grand theft and that's no surprise since the majority drive Toyotas and Hondas in my area.
Still, I had hoped to drive past and see the bike gone, along with its chain, and then I could feel relatively sure that the owner had returned to claim it. Now, I'll be inclined to believe it stolen in the darkness of night, it's owner unidentified. Damez! LOL

Monday Madness
More questions submitted by our fellow Monday Madness participants........Have fun! I may post the final set of participants' questions the week AFTER next. Thank you everyone for playing my meme! Have a blessed Christmas! =)
1. From Becky... How did you learn about computers? Were you self taught? I've owned a computer since 1984. I owned the first Macintosh 128K computer and computers have been in my life ever since! LOL
2. From Tom.. What is your favorite color and why is it your favorite color? Purple/lavender are my favorite colors because of their vibrancy and energy.
3. From Olivia... What one thing going on in the world right now, has the most effect on you personally? The state of the social security system. My mom is retired and I worry a lot about her financial well being. She never contributed to a 401K or retirement plan.
4. From Barb... If you were going to develop your own meme, what kind would you create? It would be a meme about music or blogging or photography. Obviously, I need to focus and narrow it down! LOL
5. From Sherle... Why do you enjoy answering memes? Sometimes it's cathartic. Often it's fun.
6. From Teresa... What is your wildest dream? To someday win the lottery and what I would do with the money. Most of it centers around helping others.
7. From Mz. Em... Why do you answer these questions? They're fun, interesting and it's an easy way of getting to know others, while allowing others to get to know me. Our world is so impersonal as it is.

7. From Mz. Em... Why do you answer these questions? They're fun, interesting and it's an easy way of getting to know others, while allowing others to get to know me. Our world is so impersonal as it is.
LOL

Outta Control Christmas
Just finished watching Outta Control Christmas on HGTV and I am wowed and impressed by the out of this world decorations, lighting and displays folks have. I thought we had a Griswold Christmas and, I guess, we do for our neighborhood. But after tonight, I can see where there's lots of room for improvement and improvisation. LOL
First challenge, upgrading the electricals. If our little inflatable Tigger blew the fuse, we need serious upgrades before anything more can be attempted. As we watched, spouse muttered, "we would be on this show if our electrical situation wasn't such a problem." Did I cringe upon hearing this? No. I'm up for the challenge. "Alhambra, brace yourself!" LOL
I was shocked that spouse agreed to give up watching The Wire to see this special. The Wire is the one show we view in real time and since tonight is the finale, it's shocking that we're willing to chance catching a repeat. I'm time shifting Desperate Housewives and Boston Legal, so The Wire had to be sacraficed.

Spouse and the Post Office
Yesterday was Lil Man's Las Posadas at his school. So B. assured me an early departure from work, so that we could attend together. Mid-way home I received a cell call and spouse offers to go to the post office to retrieve our mail. I arrive home earlier than B., which is surprising since B. was like ten to fifteen minutes ahead of me, even with the postal stop.
I sit and wait. Feel bad because it's taking so long. Fiddle with things and wait. Feel guilty because there were probably packages to stand in line for. Catch the weather report and wait. Play with Buddah and wait. Should I phone the cell or just wait? Watch the minutes tick and wait. Anticipate B. might be in a funk because it took so long at the post office. Continue waiting.
Finally, B. comes home sans packages, happy and carefree. "What took you so long?", I asked. "Are there packages in the car? Did you have to wait in line?"
"Oh no, I met a very lovely 73 year old woman. She loved to talk and we were talking."
"Talking? You were talking all of this time? We have a school program to go to and you're talking to a 73 year old lady at the post office!?! We have no packages? You didn't stand in line..."
"No. No packages. Too bad I didn't get her name, either. She's a widow and she has very smooth skin..."
"What? You were picking up on a 73 year old lady at the post office?!!!"
"Oh no, no - nothing like that. If anything, she was picking me up! She...."
"Forget it. Let's go!"
Well, no sooner were we seated in the car, spouse driving and me half laughing inside at spouse's predicament and have exasperated because traffic's going to be a bitch on Friday, when B. begins talking about Ms. Widow. I heard all about Ms. Widow on the drive to the school and partway home. Spouse finally concluded, "Perhaps, I'll see her at the post office again."
I don't know what to make of this. Do I laugh or cry that my competition is a seventy three year old woman? LOL One thing I can say, life with spouse is never dull and it's always full of surprises!

Las Posadas
Lil Man's dad made the banners
Tonight was the Las Posadas celebration at Lil Man's school and boy, did they have a fantastic turnout! As a fundraiser, it was a rock solid winner. Lil Man's mom sold tickets, necessary to buy water, food or champurrado (Mexican hot chocolate). Sold at $1 a ticket, one ticket needed for each food item, she said many parents bought $20 and $30 tickets at a time.
The flipside is that, even with plenty of food, the school ran out within its first two hours, with two more hours to go! LOL The childrens performances were wonderful and after the play they had a D.J. I'm so glad it turned out great for the school, with so many school districts low on funding, creative ways of involving parents and relatives to support schools need to be found and encouraged.
Las Posadas came after a full day of shopping with my mom. First we went to Sam's Club, then Wal-Mart and finally lunch at a great deli restaurant in Seal Beach. Again I ask, where are the shoppers? We easily found parking and the lines were moving, with many a register open and no customers. Is this weekend the weekend folks shop in droves, making merchants hearts jump and resembling black friday? We'll see, but so far, the analysts are saying it's a flat Christmas sales season.

It's Christmas Time!
Lil Man's in blue next to the girl in pink.
And that means it's time for pageants, plays and school performances. My nephew Lil Man, had his tonight and I was so proud of him. He knew the poem and recited it well and when it came to sing, he sang and animated according to the song. Lil Man knew what to do and when and he looked very self assured to me.
As my luck would have it, (you know, my nickname is NL2(squared) for No Luck Lena) we were seated in the second row, as the first row read Reserved. Be the obedient folk that we are, we respected the space and patiently waited forty minutes for the show to begin.
Into the second classroom's performance, the school principal announced, "You may sit in the first row seats marked Restricted." Immediately, the abominable snowlady and her equally sized twin promptly sat, obliterating our view for the remainder of the show! And wouldn't you know, they're in the frontmost seats and still they had to raise their arms to videotape all the performances , further preventing folks in rows three and beyond from seeing.
I was steaming, while trying to enjoy Lil Man's performance. I had to leave my seat and sit on the ground, as I tried to capture precious moments. Instead, I ended up with semi blurred shots and lots of red eye. But, Lil Man was happy, so I was happy and I'm just glad to have enjoyed the moment with him. He won't be a child forever, so these are the moments to treasure.
I felt some sadness as I recollected Christmas shows past with Jr. Man (Lil Man's older brother). Jr. Man's in junior high now, so I guess, it means no more performances. You know, it's social death to perform in school plays and such when you're in junior high. I felt so sad, but I have my memories!

Weekday Capsule
- Spouse arriving to work stunned after leaving me off. It's awfully early and quiet at that hour of morning! LOL
- YES, I've finished my crown work and my teeth are ready for the holiday meal. Money-wise it's been a large expense, but we only get one set of teeth, right? At least that's what spouse keeps telling me as I fret. Spouse is wonderfully supportive of the huge expense at the wrong time. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
- Okay.....the grand total for this auto repair is $400.00...more money that I don't have. It keeps getting more and more challenging. It's supposed to be repaired by day's end. Tis the season...
- Woo - hoo! I received my Christmas CDs from Andrea (www.amusicwhore.com) and am enjoying them. She's wonderfully mixed rock, pop, a capella, slow with a variety of artists and they sound wonderful. I'm listening to these at work so I can maintain my holiday spirit! LOL
- More tamales at work during our Twelve Days of Christmas. If I smell or see another tamale in the next two weeks, I'm running away. As it is, we're having this for Christmas dinner and I need a break or I won't appreciate and enjoy them.
- Enjoyed a noontime concert in the park and continued marveling that the ice in the skating rink hasn't melted. It's been in the high-70s and the sun shines right on the ice. Nothing like listening to hard rock and watching ice skaters fall on their butts! LOL
- The abandon bicycle has been vandalized during its fifth week: the seat was stolen.
- D. brought the most delicious ham and cheese croissants for breakfast. Ugh, I feel the poundage increasing!! LOL So do I stop eating....no!
- Celebrating L's birthday belatedly at Yang Chow's and having a great time, even though the service sucked. The maitre de was upset because the reservations for a party of five, turned out to be a party of six. During peak lunch hour in a popular, but small restaurant, changes like this are not appreciated!
- Enjoyed another noontime concert in the park with Preston Smith. His band played many standards, as well as popular rock classics. Preston's bent is to add awesome percussion, where none existed. Alas, his CDs were $15 and you know my take on that...if you really wanna move 'em, price them to sell at $10.
- An evening Christmas presentation where my aijado sang and performed. Awesome performance and that's my godson! You rock, Aijado!

Yule Watch
"What's Yule Watch?" you're asking. I'm so glad you asked. In the L.A. area, radio station KOST 103.5 FM is simulcasting music to KCAL channel 9's image of a burning yule log on Christmas Day. This was done in years past and was such a huge hit and very popular, that many people complained during its thirteen year absence. Go figure. I sure don't remember any family members or friends being giddy about a yule log's image on TV!
Who knew something so...so...well, I'm speechless...ordinary? mundane? dumb? would give some folks so much joy! LOL Now it's airing from 6 a.m. - 9 a.m. PST Christmas Day (yea, a whole three hours of a burning log image on your television) and I know WGN (which I believe is a Chicago station) is also airing it. There's something not quite right about viewing a roaring fire on a TV.
Ahem, I digressed...if this floats your boat, be my guest and by all means partake of this uh, festive moment. Don't let anyone, least of all me, burst your log! You go right ahead and rise and shine and open your presents on Christmas Day to music blaring from your stereo in simulcast with the log on your television screen. However you explain this to the kids is fine with me! LOL
Dare I say, that it was spouse who returned home from work today and excitedly shared this news. Did I say news? I guess for spouse, it was newsworthy. I then had to listen to the evening news report and spouse eagerly inquired if I was going to blog it. "Of course", I responded. "Something this noteworthy doesn't come along often." ;-)

What holiday song could you happily never hear again?
I’m going with Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Sheesh, Santa’s reindeers are a bunch of fakes - only female reindeer keep their antlers in winter.
oooh, that's a teaser alright...the household votes for Bing Crosby's version of White Christmas. The concensus is it's too damn sad and depressing!

Christmas Themed Films
There are some films that I need to view annually and no matter how many times I've seen them, I always enjoy them as if it's my first. And, as many times as I've viewed them, I can't recite the lines verbatim and I still anticipate scenes out of sequence. Does dyslexia in viewing films exist?
My favorites are (in no particular order):
Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol
A Christmas Carol (the George C. Scott and Alistair Sims versions)
Christmas Vacation
Home Alone
A Christmas Story
Some of these are viewed alone, as spouse can view them only so many times. And, I really don't mind because I understand that not everyone enjoys viewing a film repeatedly (even if 364 days have passed between viewings). The one film we share an equal affinity for is A Christmas Story and it's always nice to have someone to laugh or sing Jingle Bells with. What's your favorite Christmas movie list?

Auto Repair
I'm still waiting and hoping the mechanic can diagnose the problem and repair the car today. What is said about Angeleno's being very autocentric is all so true. My steed to freedom is missing and I'm empty without it. Of course, I don't want to rush the mechanic and risk having the car die on me again while in motion on the freeway. That experience added some gray hair, I'm sure.
My first thought was "It's time for a new car. I can never feel safe in this car again." However, once I calmed down, I began thinking about the seemingly endless car payments and increased auto insurance payments. With the extensive dental work I'm having done, a new auto isn't my best option at this time. But can I drive the car with confidence? Well, that remains to be seen. Let's hope the repair doesn't cost an arm and leg, because if it does, I'm up a creek without a paddle! LOL
Nothing like expensive - er, I mean, extensive - dental work, car repairs and the Christmas holiday to raise one's blood pressure, cause sleepness nights and make for very bad hair days! Why don't I just shave it all off and have one less thing to hassle with?

This week's game is simple. I asked you to post in the comments of this entry as many song titles as you could think of that were questions.
Now here's what we're going to do. I was going to pick 5 questions myself, but I thought, no way, I'd be partial, after all, some of the suggestions are mine.
So this is what we're going to do, and it's not hard.
Go to the comments of my last post. Now pick at least 5 song titles. (You can pick more if you want, but come on...do at least 5) Then give us your answers for those song titles. You can be as truthful or as funny or as crazy as you want to be with your answers.
And goodness knows you have a lot of song titles to pick from. (And hey, if you have a song title we missed and you want to use it, go right ahead!)
what have i got to lose? - blessid 2.union of souls Yea, that's what I'm sayin....it's not like I haven't been told "no!" plenty of times before. Besides, I can always turn and give you my booty side! LOL
where do i hide? - nickleback Oh so true, especially when Buddah's in a mood and tryin' to corral his flock (all humans become his flock). He talks a blue streak and won't let us be until we're where he wants us to be.
Why Can't A Man Stand Alone? - Elvis Costello Cuz, every man needs a good woman and of course every woman's good!
Who's That Girl? - Madonna Honey, sometimes I wonder about that myself, especially when looking in the mirror. She's kinda quirky, funny and nice, but can be edgy, finicky and so serious. Let me know when you see the quirky one, okay?
What's My Age Again? - Blink 182 Ooooh, don't remind me. It hurts. Tell ya what, let's forget about knowing my age and go shopping!
Do You Really Want To Hurt Me - Culture Club Uh sometimes, especially when you ask rhetorical questions. Of course, remorse will follow, but only after I've KYA! LOL
Have You Ever Seen the Rain Whoa yea, been seeing and feeling it. Enough already! Go away and don't come back another day.
Where Is Everybody? Exactly what I've been asking as we easily find and pull into parking spots, walk to the cash registers without lines and find merchandise. Me thinks folks are waiting for deep discounts or after Christmas sales.
Have You Seen Me Lately? Sometimes I awaken with this exact question. Where am I and Who am I? Wait a minute, haven't I already been her and done that?
Anybody Listening? That's what I'd like to know. Especially since I'm not seeing any comments. Somone holla!
Where Did You Sleep Last Night? On the very edge of my mattress on my side (no room to lie flat), while Buddah - the big boy - laid in the center of the down comforter. Who's my daddy?!
