I live in Southern California and live the digital lifestyle. I love technology, engage in social networks and thanks to the Amazon Kindle enjoy reading again. I listen to many podcasts and am interested in the paranormal. I don't go ghost hunting or anything like that, but I love reading, viewing and listening to a great fright!

The weather is heating up and the scent of summer is in the air and with it music! Free concerts in the park, concerts at my favorite venues and outdoor gatherings accompanied by.....music. I can't wait, my time of year is coming around the bend! LOL

~ Tom Jones It's Not Unusual I know...it is disturbing that I'm listening to him.
I had a Latin breakout moment.
~ Poncho Sanchez Yumbambe
~ Celia Cruz
~ Tito Puente El Cayuco
~ The Gypsy Kings Quiero Saber
Followed by a rock moment.
~ Jefferson Airplane White Rabbit
~ Rolling Stones Mother's Little Helper

No excuses.
No apologies.
I fell off the pop/dance wagon and bought Robin Thicke's The Evolution of Robin Thicke and Fergie's The Dutchess. I've been enjoying Thicke's CD a lot and the mix of genres. Haven't given Fergie a thorough listen because I've been busy ripping CDs to an external drive.
If I had been told that I'd be doing this a year ago, I wouldn't have believed it because I rarely listened to music on my computer. A year later and everything's changed. Get this, I am dismantling the stereo system - that's sacrilegious!
Boo and I discussed the old skool behemoth system taking up a sizeable portion of floor space and decided to do away with it. We couldn't remember the last time we'd used it so...
I think it was last year that I packed up all the albums and got them out of the house. Talk about a labor of love. You'd think each vinyl album was gold the way I gingerly handled them! LOL A year later and they're a vague memory.
Time...it marches on

This week's suggestion is brought to you by Me
Top 5 classic rock songs that are a classic annoyance to your ears.
~ The Bee Gees Lonely Days The Bee Gees as a rock band?
~ Ike & Tina Turner Proud Mary
~ Stampeders Sweet City Woman How does this song qualify as classic rock??? It's more like pop than rock. I hate this song!
~ Ted Nugent Cat Scratch Fever
~ Janis Ian Seventeen Okay, I know every girl could relate to this song when it was released but still, this isn't what I would call rock. Classic, yes.

Like I've always wondered what the inner workings of photo booths are and quite by accident happened upon one that was being serviced. Thanks to my trusty mobile camera, which is always with me and turned on unlike my dedicated digital camera, I was ready to snap this photo. I received a very suspicious look from the repairman as I snapped but I didn't give it a bother and kept right on moving!

We started out with a hearty breakfast at a greasy spoon of eggs, bacon and pancakes and then headed off to Wal*Mart. We were very happy to find the place empty and reason to stay awhile and run amok! It was off to my mom's to visit and play with her cat Precious who's a real camera hog. I closed out the day by playing with a Palm Treo. It's from Boo's office and my observations are: the screen is very clear and readable, the keyboard keys are super tiny and do not have a tactile feel, it's rather heavy to tote around and a bit too large for my taste. They need to slim it down and make the keys less knobby.

The Computer Divide
I've been giving a lot of thought to the computer divide and how among my group of friends, co-workers and relatives I know of five people who, because of financial constraints, can't afford to buy a computer and maintain an internet connection.
One of the people I know doesn't have a landline or pay for cable, so how would he get an internet connection? Sponging of someone else's unsecured wi-fi connection wouldn't be very nice or safe for him.
Two other friends live alone, again do not have cable because even the basic service is too darned expensive and know absolutely nothing about computers. They do have a landline and know that they could do their banking and pay their bills online.
Another works two jobs, has no cable or landline because of costs and can't afford to buy even a used computer.
The fifth thinks herself too old to learn new things and yet, knows that everything as far as ease of use/communication is going the way of the internet. She has a landline but is on a low income calling plan.
I've been thinking about these folks because I may have a notebook to give away and I'm trying to determine who's in the best position to make use of it and not simply allow it to collect dust.
Who would you pick?

Thursday Thirteen
Thirteen things about moblogging:
~ It's necessary when I'm too tired from work to logon from home.
~ It's a limited format that doesn't allow for multiple paragraphs and certain punctuation.
~ I can't tag my posts.
~ I can't logon to the meme host site and add my name to the participant list.
~ I have a character limitation and have to keep posts very short.
~ I can only have one image per post.
~ Text must be in standard black.
~ I can't share linked items from my RSS reader.
~ I can't reply to comments left on my blog.
~ I can't use bold, italic or underline in my post for emphasis.
~ I can share in Real Time if I desire.
~ I can post from anywhere at anytime without having to sit at a computer!
~ I can't hyperlink to anything.

While walking the streets I'm always amazed by the numerous bikes tethered with plastic chains and left unattended for hours. This is someone's steed, aren't they worried about how they'll get home if it's stolen? After all, it looks so inviting with its cushy seat with big springs, bow tied on the handlebars and nifty basket for holding things as one whisks about.
I know, I have far too much time on my hands!

10 songs that sum up your weekend...or were on your weekend playlist...and one picture that relates back. (oh, and if you feel like it, tell us why you picked the songs you did)
It never fails that kids are mesmerized by Guitar Hero and love watching others play it. I can't remember what song was playing because the store was so loud and busy. I just wanted to leave! This weekend capped my birthday celebration and I received some great gifts and had a lot laughter and conversation. We still miss our Little Girl and wish the outcome were different but...
~ Joe Cocker You Can Leave Your Hat On
~ Donna Summer Could it be Magic
~ Outkast Hey ya!
~ George Benson Lady
~ Tyrese Lately
~ Prince Kiss
~ Tom Jones She's a Lady
~ Queen Killer Queen
~ Sting If You Love Somebody
~ Everything But The Girl Miss You

I am very unhappy about this. We have been Charter Cable subscribers for years, in excess of 20 years easily. While the service hasn't always been stellar, it sure beats the nightmare stories I've heard about Time-Warner from friends. Why do we have to continue downsizing and acquiring?
~ We, yes Boo shocked me by wanting to watch the BBS DVD with me, are viewing disc two and omigod, the conversations Boo and I've had about the various phases of the BBS culture. We found ourselves reminiscing about the community that was in RL not simply virtually and how much more fun it was then.
It was nice to build RL relationships with people who not only shared similar interest but were passionate about it and willing to spend time together commiserating in RL. I know there are many of you who feel the internet and WWW is the best thing since sliced bread, but for those who were active in the BBS community that preceeded the internet, there's just no comparison.
~ BTW, has anyone news of the good Doctor?

~ Boo got the DVR in the bedroom switched out and our DVD/VCR combo connected. I can now view the BBS: The Documentary DVD I bought last month.
~ I've viewed part of disc one (of three) and the memories and joy it brought back well, they were fantastic!
~ I ordered new ear buds and decided to stick with the old standbys from Apple. Cool thing is Boo had a $10 gift certificate for Amazon, so it ended up costing only $19 cuz no tax or shipping - yea baby, I like that!
~ I have a dying digital camera that's been repaired once before and I think my money is more wisely spent buying a new one. So bummed though because it is my favorite 5 megapixel. I know for the price I can get something with outstanding features, more megapixels and improved optical zoom but...
Any hands on recommendations?

I do not deny being in the throes of a Hello Kitty craze, but I'm the first to admit that a Hello Kitty iPod Charger is a bit too much. I can't see myself tooling about town with my plastic pink charger riding shotgun! Imagine the stares of disbelief from SUV drivers stopped alongside me at a light; why, I'd never be able to hold my head up.
On another note, I use my Muvo C100 2 gig MP3 player everyday at work and it does take a beating, especially being pulled in/out of my bag and dropped a few times. It keeps on ticking without a problem but the earbuds have partially died, only the right side is audible.
Now what has me upset is that the supplied earbuds by Creative are quite good. I don't have to increase the volume beyond three to hear them well. I've tried substitute buds that have me cranking the volume to 11! It dawned on me to try my iPod earbuds and I'm a happy camper again.
Since I have only one pair of earbuds between two players I thought it best to buy a second pair of iPod earbuds. Wow, the Apple brand retail for $29.00 at Amazon. Does anyone know of someplace else selling them for less? I checked Circuit City online and they only sell the Griffen earbuds for $19.99 which is a good price but I don't how good their sound quality is.
Suggestions?

It is said that there is a time and a season for everything.
We lost Little Girl in December 2005 and found her quite by accident in June 2006. She's been with us since failing health and all.
I kept praying to God when she left us in December 2005 to at least let me know what had become of her. The uncertainty was just eating me up.
I promised Him that if He would just let me know what had happened I would be content and let go. Well God answered my prayer and brought her back. He gave us time with her and now it was time for me to uphold my part of the agreement.
We have let Little Girl go and she is at peace.

"Oh, my knee!"
I'm sitting here enjoying a total disco jam out and holding my partner in crime hostage. She's a rocker to her core but has confessed to liking the orchestration and percussion of disco so...I've made her a convert. Huge pats on my back for this feat.
Don't know what I did yesterday besides take a step up a stair, but my right knee is totally messed up and I can barely walk. Oh man, aging is a royal *itch, isn't it? I have my knee wrapped in an ice pack and taking Tylenol Arthritis like there's no tomorrow.
Boo wants me to go the doctor but I don't see the point; all they're going to do is prescribe Motrin, tell me to stay off my knee (like I can do that) and keep it on ice. I am already doing these things save for the Motrin because it does absolutely nada for me. I think I'm immune to it after the back injury because it's like candy coated medicine.
Oh, did anyone else catch Keith Richard's April Fools Joke about him snorting his dad's ashes with cocaine? Total riot and many believed it because well, he's Keith Richard's who's fallen on his head twice while gathering coconuts! LOL
Have a good one, cheerio.

~ Longer days with plenty of sunlight

10 songs that sum up your weekend...or were on your weekend playlist...and one picture that relates back. (oh, and if you feel like it, tell us why you picked the songs you did)
My sister recently bought a new car that has a month of complimentary XM Satellite radio. While listening to it and observing the offering it dawned on me that as much as I like music, I'm unwilling to pay $14.95 month for satellite radio. They don't offer anything that I don't already own and if I don't own it, I likely do not want to listen to it! While sitting outdoors with Buddah I noticed the satellite dish eyesore that graces the condos across the street. I can readily see the value in paying for my cable service but satellite radio - no go.
~ Bugles Video Killed the Radio Star
~ Rod Steward Forever Young
~ Gallery I Believe in Music
~ Tom Jones Kiss
~ Eagles Best of My Love
~ Poison Nothin' but a Go
~ Genesis Misunderstanding
~ David Bowie Young Americans
~ Joe Cocker You can Leave Your Hat On
~ Prince When Doves Cry

I know this is a local experience that many will not relate to, but its general applicability is that this is how a business should not treat its customers!
Boo and I went to the B and R in Monterey Park, CA this afternoon to redeem our coupons for a free single scoop as Birthday Club members.
The man behind the counter charged us 17 cents each for tax. We have never been charged tax on a free ice cream cone before. We explained this and he insisted that this is how it should be done.
Fine.
Next the gal scooping the ice cream had a cup in which to place my scoop. I told her that I would like a sugar cone and she responded that would cost 15 cents. "Fifteen cents? Why? The coupon clearly states that I can get a one scoop cone."
The man returns and tells me that "the coupon is for children, therefore it's in a cup - not a cone."
"Nowhere on the coupon does it state it is strictly for children. When we signed up it didn't state this either."
"Well, I'm telling you that's what it's for..."
"Well, if it's not written on the coupon or at the point of sign up, it's unenforceable. What is this store number?"
At this point this man totally wigs out about how could we possibly know to ask about the store number. As if it's something so archaic that only an "insider" would know of its existence, let alone to ask for it.
Boo then asked him his name which he refused to give for like two minutes until finally mumbling Jack. A name I'm willing to bet came off the top of his oversized head.
His attitude.
His body language.
His tone.
It wreaked of arrogance and impatience and as many cakes as I buy from this bloody chain, I will not buy another cake until I receive a satisfactory response from Baskin and Robbins HQ.
This is toatlly unacceptable, unprofessional and unnecessary. He was totally off his mark. We have never been charged tax on a free birthday cone nor denied a sugar cone.
I have never been treated so rudely and condescendingly at a Baskin and Robbins store. I am writing B and R tomorrow and if I never step foot in one again, it won't be soon enough!

A few things to share:
~ We celebrated Boo's birthday and had a great time, actually we're still celebrating and if you asked Boo this is a very good thing! LOL
~ We have just secured tickets to see Genesis in October and the seating is not the best but it's at my favorite venue The Hollywood Bowl, so I'd like to see them there than elsewhere with the same sucky seating. Alas, I've asked Andrea to share her secret for securing fantastic seating to no avail. Can you help a gal out????
~ Fry's ads have been so sad lately, I don't know what else can be said about it. It's a very sad state for me, of course. This is afterall my favorite and happiest place on earth and they have not had anything enticing!! Oh, what am I to do? Especially with a birthday coming up and the high probability of gift cards for Fry's.
~ It's pretty sad that in the beginning of April I have only one concert planned. Where have all the interesting and exciting acts gone? We did try for The Police at the Staples Center but all they had at a ridiculous price was seating behind the stage. Uh no, I think not.
~ Has anyone else heard Robin Thicke's new CD? Yep, the son of actor Alan Thicke. I like it a lot. It's pure pop and dance but I like it. Best Buy has it for $9.99 this week so that's a must purchase for me from Circuit City who price matches.
~ Speaking of Best Buy, they have the worst Raincheck Policy of any chain. I got a raincheck for the Targus Chill Pad at the Pasadena location (a pad that is the same length and width of a notebook computer and sits flush beneath the notebook keeping it cool with its built-in fan) and when I found a chill pad at the Industry Best Buy they gave me hell to redeem my raincheck.
It seems the raincheck is only valid at the Best Buy where it was issued. Hello, if I bloody wanted to wait forever and shopped at only one Best Buy location this would be a fabulous solution. But because I do travel around and frequent a variety of Best Buy locations, it would be bloody convenient for me to redeem it wherever I bloody well wish! Best Buy, has this ever freaking occurred to you? #@!$&*% idiots!
~ Sadly Circuit City is closing stores (none in my area - thank God) and this makes me very sad. Where will I go for my instant fix? They're limiting my roaming range since I'll have fewer locations to stop off at. Circuit City associates have always been helpful and they have what they advertise. Hey, Best Buy, why don't you close some stores?
It's tacky that they're laying off personnel that they've targeted as earning too much and offered them an "oppotunity to reapply for positions at a lower hourly rate." We should be outraged by this corporation's tactics. They're deplorable.
