Earthquake

Several 3.0 and 4.0 earthquakes, centered north of Fontana, occurred today (it's about 20 miles east of me). I wouldn't have even known about them, had it not been for Boop arriving at work and announcing it. Everyone at work began reminiscing about the January 17, 1994 Northridge Earthquake.

Seismologists have always pooh-poohed any correlation existing between heat and earthquakes. When the 1994 quake struck, we were having temps in the high 80s and low 90s. I clearly remember folks in my area (which was largely unaffected), riding bikes and strolling around the neighborhood. It was so warm and even the flowers were blooming, confused that spring had arrived early!

Anyway, it's funny what things we remember. I never would've recalled the 1994 quake had Boop not mentioned Fontana's. We're all hoping they remain small, non-deadly temblors and remain in the less populated desert communities. One good thing, we're far from warm temperatures. It's been so cold and raining almost every week since October. If there is a correlation between high temps and large earthquakes, we should be safe.
