Where have the Homeless Gone?

Yesterday morning I was struck by the absence of something as I was stopped at a red light: This small non-descript park on the outskirts of downtown L.A. had no homeless people.

In summers past this park was a haven for the homeless contingent. They congregated day and night as they slept, played dominoes or checkers and just sunbathed and they appeared to be in no hurry to relocate/leave.

So where have they gone? How did the city of L.A. eradicate them and where have they been displaced to? We don't have any new homeless shelters and the ones we do have already turn folks away.

In recent months allegations of 'homeless dumping' have been made by surrounding communities. This is when a conscious decision has been made by city A to forcibly remove homeless people from their city and physically drive them to city C where they are abandoned without food, money or knowledge of resource centers.
