Geek Toolkit
Every blogger and computer user should have a Geek Toolkit. How will you conveniently publish your prose without your trusty computer? What items are in my toolkit? Glad you asked!
CD holder with emergency boot CD. The CD should contain: unerase, unformat, FDisk, boot manager, wiper (safe deletions), diagnostic tools in Linux, Linux allows recovery of NT/XP passwords.
Two great commercial programs that I do not own are: SpinRite disk recovery program and Partition Magic a real time disk partitioner.
I also have a flash drive with updated anti-virus and anti-spyware software: Hijack This, AdAware, Spybot and Microsoft's anti-spyware.
Two commercial anti-spyware programs that I've heard great things about, but do not own, are Webroot SpyWasher & Pest Patrol. I feel the free programs are good enough.
I do have a boot floppy for Windows 95, 98,and ME users. Never know which version of Windows the person has and I know a few people who are still using 98. Oh, and two using 95. Hey, if it's still working for you and doing what you need it to do, don't fix it if it ain't broken!
