My company does not have an IM client installed. I suppose I could download AIM and use it, but really, who's has that kind of time? Instead, my best girlfriend (employed by same company) and I talk on the phone and, when we can't mention names cuz the cube farm walls have elephant ears, we email the saliant details to each other.
I've heard of gen x'ers and later simultaneously voice chatting, IMing and doing homework and questioned how they're doing anything well. I now have a better understanding and trust me, it's doable. LOL At one point we both commented how well we were adapting and how speedily we type. Maybe we should try AIM?
However, we just as easily and quickly decided that we like the voice contact (there's no replacement for intonation), email's just as fast and we don't do it often enough to warrant downloading AIM. It's a fun and entertaining diversion on rare occasion and it's a necessity when not desiring to spread our business throughout the department.
Almost forgot, I arrived at work with a flashlight in tow. Hey, this girl doesn't play when it comes to being prepared and proceeded to freeze my *ss off. The a/c hasn't been regulated since Monday's outage and we froze. I had to work wearing a down jacket. That's another handy item I keep in my desk. Hey, a gal never knows.
My motto has always been be prepared, as you know so well! LOL
