A Day in My Life

Some days back my mom was searching for medium sized ceramic soup bowls deep enough for cocido or beef stew or pozole. She remembered the First Street store and entering it was culture shock and a wayback moment: I felt like we'd been transported to the sixties!

The lighting, presentation, type of merchandise sold and manner of display were so retro I was left speechless! Mom revelled about shopping and finding everything she needed when we were children. How convenient it was to stop there after work because of its curbside accessibility for bus riders, unlike the strip malls of today where you have to traverse the parking lot to reach the building.

It was fun seeing my mom so animated about her past experiences and I could visualize her as a woman my age shopping after a hard days work. I wish I could have snapped more close up photos, but I had to be covert! They didn't have the bowls she wanted but we were told to return in two weeks, I have no doubt we will and I will snap more photos of this dinosaur!
