HAPPY LEAP DAY!
I'm participating in today's Leap Day: A Day in the Life Project. The weather's cooperating today and I'm thankful for this. No rain or winds, just a list of places to go and errands to run! I'm feeling very laid back and don't really want to leave the house. But, short of photographing indoors all day, I need to get out and about! Hopefully, I'll find people walking and enjoying the weather so that my photos don't look like the world's ended and I'm the last person standing, with camera, of course! LOL
I live in Southern California and live the digital lifestyle. I love technology, engage in social networks and thanks to the Amazon Kindle enjoy reading again. I listen to many podcasts and am interested in the paranormal. I don't go ghost hunting or anything like that, but I love reading, viewing and listening to a great fright!

Sunday Brunch
Say Cheese!
1. What type(s) of camera do you have? Oooh, fun question; I have a Canon S10 two megapixel which is circa 1999 and cost me a bundle back then! Also, a Canon S50 five megapixel which I bought in October 2003. Awesome camera! The S10 travels in my car with me everywhere I go. I haven't used film since 1999.
2. Do you store your pictures in a box, photo album or on your computer? Err, on the computer and CDRs. You have to back up your photos. They're too precious to lose in a crash.
3. What is your favorite thing to take pictures of? Everything. Even the most average looking or mundane thing is worth of photographing. You never know what you'll capture in that moment.
4. What is the biggest size photo you have hanging in your home? Hmmm, I don't know.
5. Do you like having your picture taken? No, but I've gotten better about it. I'm usually the photographer, so that's partially why I'm rarely photographed.

Saturday Senses
In the Movies:
[taste]:: Do you take food or drinks into the movies? What do you like to eat/drink while you watch a movie? No, I would like to, but am too nervous andconcerned about getting caught. I must have a soda and buttered popcorn. How can anyone go to the movies and not munch on popcorn??? LOL
[touch]:: Do you have a "kissing in the movies" story to share? No. I sneak a quick peck every so often, but that's about it. I'm a little too mature for full blown necking.
[sight]:: Where do you like to sit when you go to the movies? Front, middle, back? Left, right? Does it matter? And what do you do when there´s someone sitting in front of you who´s blocking your view? I prefer to sit in the top most, last row of the theater in the center. I don't like having someone seated behind me. I always feel like it's going to be an uncomfortable viewing.
Even with the new stadium seating, I get stuck with Mr. Big head in front of me. I don't leave or switch seats. I just shift and bear it. Perhaps, he feels my discontent and shifts to either side, thereby allowing me to accommodate the other.
[smell]:: If we could smell things in movies, which movie would you want to watch (and smell) and why? Ah, when the characters are dining in an Italian restaurant or when they're ascending a mountain. I want to smell to cold, fresh air as it passes.
[hearing]:: What do you do when people are talking during a movie and disturbing you? Are you the kind of person who sighs and hopes they will stop or do you say something? I will start with the former and if they persist, resort to the latter. I am so happy theaters air the 'Turn your cell phone off" commercial/warning. I've actually had someone yak, yak, yak during a movie.

Daily Dirt
Where do you go...
1. ...for one night of fun and laughter? anywhere and everywhere. I find fun and laughter where ever I am.
2. ...for a sleazy night out? Oh that's easy, a bar/nightclub. Hell, even happy hour has its abundance of sleaze.
3. ...for your first date? A nice restaurant with ambience, good cuisine and great view. Followed by a movie, long scenic drive or stroll someplace where there's a lot to see.
4. ...for a stress reliever? to a massage therapist or sauna.
5. ...when you're alone? Anywhere and everywhere. Now if you asking about where do I go when I'm feeling down, that would be the beach. Nothing helps clear my brain like the salt water, air and crispness of an ocean breeze.

saturday-8 :: parties, parties, everywhere!
laissez le bon temps rouler!!! this past week new orleans had mardi gras, and my best friend & his friend left town to avoid it.
1. have you ever been to mardi gras? Unfortunately, no. I would love to, though.
2. if so, did you like it? if not, do you want to go? Most definitely want to. I hear one must plan up to 9 months in advance???
3. outside of mardi gras, new orleans is an amazing city, rich with history. have you ever been to new orleans before - NOT during mardi gras - and if so, did you enjoy it? if not, would you like to visit? I would stay beyond mardi gras and enjoy the city's sights, sounds, and cuisine!
4. mardi gras has many parades from different organisations (crewes). do you like parades in general, or do you not care to watch them? I like parades a lot...the more outrageous, the better!
5. millions of people flood new orleans for mardi gras every year. what is the largest party you've ever been to? New Year's Eve on the parade route of the Rose Parade. I stayed up all night chatting, partying and having fun. I saw the first float with a rose and that's all I remember. I slept through the entire parade!
6. there are approximately 90 'sanctioned' parades during mardi gras, stretching over a period of 5 weeks. what's the LONGEST party you've ever been to? Same as number 5.
7. one parade, barkus, is for dogs & their owners only! (www.barkus.org) aside from traditions like Hallowe'en and St. Patrick's Day, have you ever been to a 'themed' party (costume ball, charity)? tell us about that. No and now I feel like I've missed out. LOL
8. a few mardi gras parades this year were cancelled or rescheduled due to freezing rain (or, at least, very very COLD rain!). have you ever thrown or been invited to a fete that had to be cancelled due to nasty weather? tell us about it! Oh definitely, but I'll talk about the one that was not canceled.
One New Year's Eve we went on a harbor cruise party. Girl, it was so cold, windy and raining that we got seasick. You could barely remain standing to dance and the DJ had a heck of time spinning the tunes. The music was skipping due to the rocky waters and many guests were looking pretty green. One had to dine by holding their plate with one hand and eating with the other. Forget using a knife and fork to slice your meat. If you let go of your plate, it was a gonner!
a bientot, mes chers!!! a la semaine prochaine! (translation: see you soon, my dears! until next week!)

We arose early this morning and drove to the valley for breakfast. There's this nondescript, 1960s style restaurant where my spouse swears they make the best pancakes. I'm not complaining, they are very good and it was such a gorgeous winter morning, how could I refuse???
We had slight winds blowing and it was clear as a bell. I could see for miles and the mountains looked gorgeous as the sun's light and mixing of clouds cast shadows on the ranges. We ended up at Frys Electronics, one of my favorite haunts. I can never exit without spending $25.00!
I don't know how many of you are familiar with the ongoing litigation of 321 Studios vs. the MPAA? 321 Studios sells DVD copying software for archival purposes and those of you with small children, can appreciate backing up DVD's of Sponge Bob, the Disney classics, and countless other cartoons. The court has sided with the Motion Picture Association and ordered 321 Studios to stop selling the software. Pending the appeal, the 321 Studios has requested a stay of the ruling. The general consensus is that they'll need to pull the software off the shelves.
Well, lo and behold, frays had DVD SCOPE PLUS, DVD XCOPY PLATINUM, DVD XCOPY GOLD, AND DVD XCOPY EXPRESS prominently displayed by the checkout stands. I was so thrilled to see it and promptly immersed myself in deciphering the differences among the four versions. This caused me to spend the better part of 30 minutes reading and comparing and I finally settled on DVD XCOPY PLUS.
Mind you, I don't have the DVD burner yet, but ignore that minor fact for now. The important thing is that I possess the right to archive my DVD collection if I choose to do so. It seems our options and rights are steadily being legislated and eroded. If it's not the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), it's all in the name of Anti - Terrorism. Oh well, I exercised my right by buying the software before it's lost forever.
After Frys Electronics, we drove to Pasadena and did a little window shopping and made a pit stop at Bath & Body Works. I love their anti-bacterial soap and their body wash. They offer some of the nicest fragrances and because it was a weekday, it wan't too crowded. Of course, the Paseo Colorado open air shopping center is never busy. It opened about two years past after major reconstruction. It's located where the old Pasadena Mall was once anchored and now offers residential living space above and adjacent to the stores.

Ah, thank God it's the end of my work week. I've complete my overtime for this week and can now enjoy a three day weekend. Hopefully, it won't rain tomorrow and I we can enjoy the day. My spouse is taking tomorrow off and, though we have no plans, I 'm sure we'll have a great day together!
I filled the tank this morning and received sticker shock....I paid $2.03 per gallon and felt like I'd won the lottery. Is this sad or what? Remember the days when we thought paying $1.23 was highway robbery? Now, if I pay less than $2.15 per gallon I want to pat myself on the back for my great find! There's something really wrong with this picture.

What's On Right Now?
I sure appreciate those of you who will still answer, even though almost a whole day late!!
What's On the front page of your newspaper Right Now? The rising gas prices at the pump. It seems the price increased 7 cents overnight! At this rate, we'll be at $3.00 per gallon come summer. Not good for the tourism industry, transportation industry or Jane's like us!
The L.A. basin has been receiving a lot of rain lately and this is a big concern for those residing in the fire areas. We had very bad fires in L.A., Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego counties and now the residents face mud and rock slides, in addition to flooding. My heart goes out to these people.
Sleep well and be safe!

Whew, the rain caught me on my evening commute. I know I need gas, but with the downpour and wind, I didn't feel like stopping. I suppose I'll have to do it first thing tomorrow morning, when it will probably be even colder, windier and wetter! Oh well, such is the price I must pay for laziness.
I also had difficulty logging on tonight. I rarely receive a busy signal - so you know I can't be using AOL! - and was surprised when I continued receiving an error message about being unable to confirm my password. After several attempts, I stopped trying and went to view the boob tube. I told myself that the problem must be on their end.
Well, a couple hours have passed and here I am! It obviously was on their end and I'm glad it's all straightened out. I learned a good lesson, too.....have the snail address and phone number for where to call when you can't get online. I didn't have this information ready, so I couldn't seek assistance!

How organized are you? What's that? I'm very organized at work out of necessity, productivity and due to the hectic environment. At home, I'm more laid back and notorious for misplacing things. I think it's my subconscious way of fighting the rigidity I must endure five days a week. Does it cause problems in the household? Sure. Untold time is wasted looking for items of import, many of them time sensitive. In vain, my spouse has tried to organize me. I don't purposely do it, it's just how I am at home.
Daily Dirt
Opposites attract… (part II)
1. What happens when you wake up one morning and realised you've switched gender? I cry and then strategize.
2. Would you tell anyone? Well, my spouse would have to know! Otherwise, I'm remaining indoors for awhile until I figure it out.
3. How do you think that had happened? Hey, I'm not into Sci-Fi so my imagination isn't that great. I'd take advantage of the opportunity and settle a few things.
4. Would you do something about it or let it be? I would definitely want to return to being female.
5. Will you still be yourself or change your personality completely? I'd have a slight personality change. I'd handle a lot of the aggresive, arrogant and ignorant males I know.

1. What is it you think is so special about the opposite sex? Their strength and ability to lose weight relatively easily.
2. What have you always been very curious about them? Their physiology accounting for rapid weight loss.
3. Do you want to trade lives with them? Sometimes. Especially when I'm angry and would like to pulverize someone.
4. How much similar are you to the opposite sex? Not much. I'm smarter.
5. What's the one thing you find unbearable about them? Their arrogance that they are to be accommodated and excused for bad behavior.

Internet...
1. Your internet connection: DSL or dialup? Okay, let's hear the sorrowful wails....dial up.
2. Daily: How much time do you spend on your computer working? The better half of the day.
How much time do you spend on the internet? About 20 minutes max. My tasks don't require me to access the net to perform my job.
3. Have you met someone on the internet? And if so, have you met in person? Actually, I've been online since 1985 and I've met many wonderful people who have come and gone over the years. It's never been a romantic connection, though.
4. Emails: When you receive a humorous or pointless email from a friend, do you pass it on or "the emails dies at my inbox"? It depends. If I truly get a laugh out of it - which I mostly do - then I forward it. Yeah, I know about the 'elitist' that look down their noses and say it's ignorant and yet, another form of spam.
You know what, my life is stressful enough and full of "serious and productive things" to do and ponder. I want to smile and laugh as much as possible. If forwarding a .avi or .jpg or funny joke will give someone a much needed break from "productivity", then I'm all for it! If someone explicitly requests that I not forward jokes, etc., of course, I respect their wishes and stop sending them.
5. Pop-up ads: Annoying or "I ignore them so it doesn't bother me."? I run Google's toolbar with automatic "pop up stopper" on IE and it works flawlessly. I've never been happier with blocking pop ups. They're definitely annoying!

Overtime, overtime, overtime!
So it's time to work overtime again. Can you feel my enthusiasm? LOL I'll work it, but I'd prefer to sleep in and come home at my regular time. I'm so happy that it did not rain during the rush hour commute today. No accidents or delays. The roads were still slick, but not as bad as they could have been. My commute was normal and uneventful and I like that a lot!
On another note, I have a co-worker whose ex-husband died two weeks ago. They'd been separated/divorced for some years and she had a boyfriend. My dilemma is that I didn't know what to say to her when I saw her this morning. She's just returned to work and saying, "I'm sorry for your loss" sounds so contrived. I found myself avoiding her as much as possible. I'm not proud of it, but it was easier for me to do that, then to come up with something to say. Especially, since she never had anything nice to say about him.

"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up." ~Pablo Picasso. Please comment. Boy, isn't this the truth. We grow up and become very left brained. All our creativity is lost or forgotten and artistic qualities aren't encouraged much. We have to go into the world and be productive and earn money. Most important, we must conform.

Thank goodness we received a reprieve from the rain today. It finally stopped raining about 6:00 a.m. this morning. It rained nonstop yesterday and, though, I know we need it, I could've done just as well without it.
It's been pretty dry most of the day, although it's raining now as I type this. I only hope it stops during the morning rush hour. All the water and slick roads make for traffic pile ups and loonng commutes. Mondays are tough enough without lengthening the commute! Have a great week everyone!

Sunday Brunch
The Concert Circuit
1. How far would you or have you travelled to see a concert? I've drivern from L.A. to San Diego to see Elton John, Carlos Santana and The Eagles. I think it's a 130 mile drive one way.
2. What is the best concert you've seen? Okay, laugh if you want but, in my teens, it was KISS at the L.A. Forum. As an adult, it would be Santana at the Hollywood Bowl during the Shaman tour. Awesome concert and third row seating...yeah, baby!
3. What is the worst concert you've seen? Rod Stewart at the Hollywood Bowl in the mid 90s. He was either drunk or high or both and screwed up the opening song. Then had the nerve to yell at the band because he screwed up and then proceeded to berate the audience. No class. No professionalism.
4. Have you met a performer after a concert? No. I've never been the groupie type or the kind to waste my time hoping 'catch a glimpse'.
5. What singer would you like to meet most? Hmmm, provided I don't have to wait or anything, Carlos Santana or Elton John.

Ugh, it's rained non-stop today. The rain started in my area around noon. I had enough time to run my errands and get inside before it started. I don't much care for driving in the rain. There's too much opportunity for accidents or mishaps. I prefer to play it safe and stay home where it's warm, dry and safe. We've got some pretty good winds blowing and my chimes are giving me such a concert! LOL Their high pitch sounds so nice and soothing. I love listening to chimes. They're like angel bells.

saturday-8 :: springtime?
well, today in orlando we're hitting a high of 80 degrees F. whoo!
1. what is the current weather like in your area, and what will be your high temp. for today? Oooh, I'm jealous! I'm stuck in L.A. with rain, wind and 63 degree weather. Not funny and no fun.
2. today i'm getting all industrious ... i'm mulching all the oak leaves in my front yard. do you have a yard, or do you live in an apartment or a condo? I'm in a duplex and thankfully, don't have to worry about yardwork. I'm no green thumb and gardener.
3. do you like yardwork? or would you rather pay someone to do it for you? Oh, I'll gladly pay someone to do it. I have no qualms about that!
4. let's talk gardens ... even though i love planting rosebushes and annuals, i HATE to garden. i am not 'big' into veggies, and don't want to 'waste' an area of my backyard to cultivate them. do you have a garden, or want to have one? I would like to have a garden. It might prove quite a meditative experience.
5. what is your 'dream yard' - white picket fence with a few potted plants, a water-conservative xeriscape yard, or a beautifully-sculpted sea of green, or something else? I would like to have a yard with roses, chinese lillies, poppies, etc., but I'd need a gardener to care for them. Otherwise, I'd kill them in a matter of weeks! Yes, I am no gardener.
6. i am prone to sunburn as i'm irish/english and slightly freckled. i'm going to have to load up on the spf today as it's sunny. are you a sun-lotion nazi, or fairly blase about getting pink? I don't turn pink/red. I'm a native Californian and appropriately 'brown'. LOL I'm ready and waiting for the sunshine.
7. i'm having an ex-student come over and help me buy a lot of yard stones to line my flowerbeds - i can't lift them all, and he's got a truck and lots of muscles! i HATE figuring out how much to pay someone for help. what do you think is a good fee for about 4 hours of yardwork (and stone-moving) and use of his truck ... i will be feeding him lunch and have an electric water cooler? :) I would say a solid $100.00 would be fair. There's a lot of wear and tear on his truck. It's more than just the gas, you know. Also, muscles or not, it's hard work and he deserves to be fairly compensated.
8. i have gift cards to home depot to buy my yard stones and will be shopping there, although there is a lowe's right behind my house. do you have a favourite place to shop for yard stuff? I do and it's Home Depot all the way! I like their variety and prices. They also offer neat classes at convenient times.

Random Questions; Random Days
Michigan's Mega Millions Lottery is up to at least 220 million dollars! Imagine winning that much money! Do you ever play the lottery? Oh, I'm so bad at remembering to buy tickets. Unless it's a super big lottery, chances are I'll forget to play. The few times I have played, I've never won. It's very discouraging.

The Friday Five
When was the last time you...
1. ...went to the doctor? Two weeks ago.
2. ...went to the dentist? November 2003. I don't have to go back until May 2004, yea!
3. ...filled your gas tank? Sunday evening and the way prices are going up, up, up - I'll need to do less driving and visit the gas station less!
4. ...got enough sleep? Can't remember. I doubt anyone knows.
5. ...backed up your computer? Ugh, this strikes a chord. I haven't completely backed up my computers in months. However, what I'm stressing over right now is the potential loss of 427 digital photos on my CF card.
Everytime I attempt to access the 512 meg card I'm asked if I wish to format. Not good; not good at all. I'm waiting for the software I ordered to arrive so I can attempt to rescue my photos!!! I've been so bummed about this, I've been dreaming about it.
Ironically, I'd just finished taking 20 or so shots from China Town and the surrounding area. I was pleased with what I captured and looking forward to posting them. Now, who knows? I guess, I'll have to take another train ride during lunch.

Fire drills
Whoever came up with the idea for fire drills must have been a masochist! Before you go off on me, I know they serve a good purpose. Trust me, I know this and am not trying to disparage fire or safety personnel. Having said that, please allow me this one tirade?
It's cold in the morning, folks. It's winter and it's more than a little nippy outside, get my drift? Oh dear, no pun intended. Anyway, we had a drill this morning and we're standing outside, in the open air without coverage for like 20 minutes! Thank God I grabbed my coat. I left the purse and my steaming cup of freshly made tea. I was so upset about the latter.
Of course, the last fire drill we had employees carrying coffee cups, books, cell phones, and a blow dryer (yes, you've read correctly, one person had a blow dryer!). They were chastised and a global email was dispatched admonishing us about the importance of the drills and evacuating immediately. It seems several employees were congregating in the hallways chatting.
I guess, corporate is intent on torturing us until we get it right. I'm afraid they have more educating to do. This time some employees were caught hiding in the ladies room and one employee exited without shoes. Don't know, I didn't ask! How one can go to work and exit an emergency drill without shoes is well, beyond me. I don't even want to guess what she was doing when the alarm sounded!

Let's get married…
1. Marry at young age or later? Marry later
2. Marry someone younger or older? Marry someone older.
3. Big or small wedding? Small wedding.
4. Honeymoon or no honeymoon? Honeymoon
5. Kids or no kids? No kids.
The Thursday Threesome
::Serendipity: Making fortunate discoveries by accident::
Onesome: Serendipity:-- Do you believe in destiny? Yes, I most definitely do. And as the definition states, it always happens when least expected!
Twosome: Making fortunate discoveries-- What is your greatest "find"? Is it an antique you discovered tucked away at a garage sale? Or maybe something as simple as the great sale on khakis or lawn mowers at your favorite store? It was the purchase of one our cars. We received a super low interest rate before it was the popular thing to do. We had no idea the option was available until the salesperson informed us of our good fortune!
Threesome: by accident-- Have you ever discovered a place entirely by accident and it's become a favourite place to go now? A hidden grove in the city park, a wonderful little coffee shop or restaurant, a treasure trove of a shop? We discovered this fantastic dim sum bakery where they make the dim sum for the most popular restaurants in China Town. It's so small and dinky that there's no place to sit and eat. It's totally take out, no ifs, ands or buts! But they have the best dim sum and egg rolls and it's well worth the trip and wait.
Random Questions; Random Days...
"Imagination is more important than knowledge." ~ Albert Einstein Please comment. That's a hard one because I think sometimes a little knowledge can spur the imagination. I have no doubt that imagination is very important and this strikes a chord with me, because I worry that today's youth are losing theirs.
So much of their 'play' is already programmed, choreographed, and the game play and ending determined. Too few children play with Lego's or Lincoln Logs and build things from their imaginations. Everything must be in color with cool graphics and special effects. The early video games required some imagination: the planes in Asteroids were triangle shaped and didn't look anything like the real thing. The terrain was dots - imperfect, pixelated ones at that! It didn't look like a real sky but in the mind's eye of a child, they were in space fighting evil aliens/space invaders.

Wednesday Whatevers
1. How did you find out about the facts of life? I believe I learned from TV, instructional videos at school and, of course, my peers.
2. What, other than love, makes the world go round? Family, friends, children and spirituality.
3. What is your favorite shape? Wow, I've never given this any thought. It's funny to truly consider it for the first time and realize how many variations exist, isn't it? I guess, I'll say circle.
Daily Dirt
Public exposure… (part II)
1. Do you talk to your friends while you're doing it? LOL No. I don't chat up the phone lines, most definitely not. However, I do know of people who do and I'm always amazed at their candor. For me, it's TMI (too much information).
2. Do you talk to your friends while they're doing it? Well, uh, I hope not. Of course, I never think to ask where in their home they're located.
3. Would you rather go alone? Uh, yeah.
4. What's the most embarassing thing ever happened to you in there? It's everyone's worst scenario, isn't it...run out of TP. It's like being in a deserted island.
5. Invent/Design your very own imaginary/dream toilet... It would automatically flush every minute, without splashing. An endless supply of TP would automatically be dispensed and the sheets would be soft and cushy!
What's on Right Now
We haven't done this one in a while...........
What's On your computer desk Right Now?
Ugh, a lot of paper, if fact, stacks of paper, zip disks, CDRs, my cat-a-day and Scrabble desk calendars, a hot cup of tea and 20oz. water bottle, and, of course, music CDs. No one can work and be productive without music, right?! Speaking of stacks of paper, whatever happened to the paperless office? I'm still hoping and waiting.

The Tuesday Iffer
The Truth Is Out There...
If you were an astronaut would you rather discover life in outer space superior or inferior to ourselves and why? No. I'd rather explore our oceans and spend money on making equipment that will take us to the deepest depths. Our earth is primarily comprised of water and we have so many unanswered questions and don't fully understand the depths of our seas. It's ironic, considering water is something we need for survival. We haven't begun to explore ways of making the salt water drinkable in mass amounts.
Daily Dirt
Public exposure… (part I)
1. Have you had any problem going to public toilet? Eeeoow, hell yes. They're smelly, dirty and don't have TP! It has to be an extreme emergency, otherwise, I'm holding it.
2. Are you very picky about which cubicle to use? In the USA, we call them stalls and yes, I prefer the ones furthest from the entrance. I don't want someone knocking or attempting to open it every 45 seconds.
3. In a shopping mall, have you already had a favourite toilet in mind? Uh, no. I don't even know where the restroom is 8 out of 10 times.
4. What happens when there's no paper or halfway through there's not enough paper? I'm praying for ample amounts of 'seat covers'. If not, I'm yelling HELLO! HELLO! and praying for a response.
5. What do you do to entertain yourself in there? Read the graffiti walls, what else is there????
Tuesday Twosome
1. Is your role model someone famous or not? Famous to me.
Who is your role model? My mom. She's taught many lessons about finances, social interaction, etiquette, etc.
2. Which is more important to you: Actions or words? Actions. You can paint me the prettiest picture and still stab me in the back.
3. Do you forgive easily or hold a grudge? I don't hold grudges but, I also don't believe it's up to me to forgive. Some things are not forgivable. I feel it's up to your Higher Power or God to forgive you, not me.
4. What is the last lie you told? That I had too much to work to do and this is why I couldn't attend a meeting.
What is the last lie someone told you? Don't know. I haven't caught anyone lying.
5. Would you rather be with someone for the wrong reason or alone for the right reason? Definitely alone for the right reason. I can be a in a crowded function and be lonely. I can easily be at home by myself and be happy and fulfilled.

Well, I'm still trying to rescue/salvage my 400 plus photos from the 512 meg CF card. I've asked/pleaded for any advice/recommendations regarding photo recovery software. To date, I've not received one response. Not one to panic, I'm still exploring my options and have come across two possible programs:
Photo Recovery which offers a demo version. After running the demo, it 'found' 427 images indicating they're recoverable, once I purchase the $40.00 program. The demo version only lets you know what it finds - it doesn't actually recover the images for you.
Image Recall also offers a demo version. However, it will recover the first 10 images it finds and requires you to purchase the $40.00 program to recover all the images.
Of the two programs, I'm inclined to go with Photo Recovery because it clearly listed all 427 found images. Once I've received the program and used it, I'll update you and explain my experience. In the meantime, all of you photo bloggers need to consider what utility program to use should the unthinkable happen. You don't want to wait until you reach the crossroad I have.

Happy President's Day! Please comment on this holiday.
I honestly don't have an opinion on it other then, it's another excuse for a day off! I liked it better when we received both Lincoln and Washington's birthday as a holiday. Then someone, in a brilliant flash of insight, decided to combine them into one holiday - bummer!

Well, I've had a fabulous Valentine's weekend and it was capped with the celebration of my nephew's wife, Ceci's, birthday. We met at TGIF for appetizers, laughter, talk, love and gifts. Although Ceci is not my niece or a blood relation, I love her as if she is and I often refer to her as my niece. I only hope she knows how much I love her and enjoy her company.
I hope everyone's had a wonderful Valentine's weekend and enjoyed themselves. For those of you fortunate enough to be off tomorrow in observance of President's Day, have a terrific day and make it a smashing three day weekend! LOL

Sunday Brunch
Bed and Breakfast
1. Are you a morning person or night owl? I'm definitely a night owl. I'm early riser out of necessity. But I'm bright eyed and bushy tailed when the sun goes down!
2. What is the last thing you do before bed? Sip water.
3. What time do you usually wake up? Weekdays at 6 a.m.
4. Do you eat breakfast regularly? Yes. It's my least favorite meal, but my spouse insists that it's the *most* important one and, therefore, I must eat it daily.
5. What is your favorite breakfast food? Okay, I'm sure this will receive a lot of yech's but, here goes....cottage cheese with fresh fruit or fruit cocktail. If it's my least favorite meal, it has to be something not too heavy, but yet, nutritious enough. This fits the bill for me.

saturday-8 :: calling all romantics
1. give us your thoughts on valentine's day ... over-hyped, commercial holiday, or a nice day to share with a 'sweetie?' I think the way it's portrayed is over hyping its significance. I've previously shared that Valentine's Day should exist in our hearts daily. We never know from one day to the next what our fate, or that of our significant others will be. We need to appreciate and respect our spouses/boy/girlfriends each and every day. If not, what's the point of all the candy, flowers, jewelry, dinner, etc. one day a year?
2. do you have a valentine this year? if so, who is it? if not, who would your perfect valentine be? Yes, I do. It's my spouse who's been my Valentine for 24 years and counting!
3. this year, my secretary and i do not have valentines, so we're going to get dinner and go hang out at a gay bar together. a friend of mine tsk'd and said, "oh, lonely hearts club, huh?" that offended me, because we're not lonely ... we just don't have a MAN, plus we have each other to hang out with! do you feel sorry for people who do not have a valentine today? Sorry, no - not at all. I feel sorry and sad for the couples who put on airs on Valentine's Day and in reality, have miserable relationships. Their reality is so unhappy and miserable and this is what makes me sad.
4. my stbx-husband is coming over today to do the things around the house he promised to. he also called to ask if he could bring me lunch. guilt is a WONDERFUL motivator! tell us about something romantic you did because you felt guilty. Hmmm, I can't think of anything. When I know I've done something wrong or offensive, I immediately apologize and try to make amends. I don't know that my amends are romantic, though!
5. do you have any plans for valentine's day? if you don't, tell us about your perfect valentine's day fantasy. Okay, as funny as this will sound, we celebrated Valentine's Day yesterday. The restaurants will be extremely busy and crowded today, so we drove to Malibu last night and had a scrumptuous dinner at Gladstone's restaurant.
We waited maybe twenty minutes to be seated and then got a booth overlooking the ocean! It was very romantic, quiet, and special. We had a couple of drinks, had our photo taken, and had a leisurely two hour dinner. We weren't hurried because others were waiting for the table and it was so busy that the chatter reached a crescendo!
Oh, let me tell you about our photo: As we approached the entrance a woman came up and asked us to pose for our Free Keychain Photo. We obliged and made certain to pose with the ocean as our background. It was a quick photo and we were off. We noticed many people having their photos snapped with the restaurant doors or the take out window as their background. So we dined and when exiting, came upon the counter where our photos were waiting. Our photo showed the ocean and the sunset as our background! It was so perfect and we felt so blessed that we bought two 5 X 7 and received the two keychains free. This was our Valentine gift to ourselves! LOL
So for tonight, we're going out with our neighbors to dinner and then perhaps take in a film. One neighbor recently broke up with her boyfriend and the other is single. We thought it'd be great to just hang out together and celebrate.
6. i'm going out to the mall today (after i get my chores done, of course), and shopping for a red dress or a red corset-type bustier to wear out tonight. tell us about the hottest vday outfit you can think of for a man/woman (your choice!). and 'birthday suit' doesn't count, people! ;) Uh, mine is a G rated blog, I'll take the 5th on this one!
7. my friend invited me to TWO weddings today. my friend has her 11th wedding anniversary today. do you think it's a good idea or a bad idea to get married or propose on such a day? I think their heart and excitement's in the right place, but for the guests, it's an inconvenient date to have a wedding. There's a lot of no shows at weddings that occur on Valentine's, Thanksgiving weekend, December or Christmas week and, of course, New Year's day weddings.
8. there is a lot of debate and discussion about same-sex marriages. san francisco recently married a lesbian couple who have been together for FIFTY-ONE YEARS. do you think that gays and lesbians should be able to share their love and marry just like heteros? be as safe or as controversial in your answer as you like ... this question isn't supposed to bring you flames on your site. i'd just like to know what other bloggers think! Most definitely gays & lesbians should have the same privelege. Love is love. How does one legislate whom one falls in love with? Why are heteros so threatened? If two men/women love each other, that's none of my business. I'm glad they have someone to love and someone who loves them in return. Love is a wonderful feeling and experience and legal marriage is the testament and celebration of such a joyous feeling. Why shouldn't everyone have the right and privelege to enjoy and experience it?
Please, let's not get into what the Bible says. The Bible was also used for years to justify slavery and classcism. Now we think it's deplorable and condemn it. I hope that someday in my lifetime, we'll look back on the dark ages and wonder how it is that we believed it correct to deny American citizens the right to a same sex marriage, if this is what they choose.

8. there is a lot of debate and discussion about same-sex marriages. san francisco recently married a lesbian couple who have been together for FIFTY-ONE YEARS. do you think that gays and lesbians should be able to share their love and marry just like heteros? be as safe or as controversial in your answer as you like ... this question isn't supposed to bring you flames on your site. i'd just like to know what other bloggers think!

Funny valentine...
1. What do you want most for a valentine day gift? The company and companionship of my spouse. I don't care about a material gift.
2. Where or what would be the perfect setting? A relaxing, leisurely dinner over looking the ocean.
3. Are you happy and very in love with your significant other? Yes. I have been happily married and in love for 23 blessed years. I know I'm the exception these days and I'm grateful God blessed me with a wonderful soul mate.
4. What is the worst thing that could spoil your Valentine's day? A death in the family.
5. If there is a chance for 1 wish to come true on Valentine's day, what would you wish for? The valued 'window seat' overlooking the ocean.

The Friday Five
1. Are you superstitious? No. I go about my day without a care that it's a Friday and the 13th day!
2. What extremes have you heard of someone going to in the name of superstition? Not wearing black on Friday 13, not walking under a ladder, not looking when a black cat crosses your path, never drive a red car, they attract accidents, never allow a stranger to touch your infant, they might give him/her the ojo!
3. Believer or not, what's your favorite superstition? Oooh I love this one...it's always killed me as being so ridiculous...don't watch a dog doing poop - it'll put a bump-like pimple on the lip of your eye!
4. Do you believe in luck? If yes, do you have a lucky number/article of clothing/ritual? Yes, I believe in luck and feel my lucky number is 7.
5. Do you believe in astrology? Why or why not? Kinda sorta, not really. I don't actively seek it out, but when it's read to me, seven out of ten things are true. Go figure!
