DSL or Cable?

Our DSL service is about to expire the end of May and the company's notified us that it's increasing it by $20 monthly, that's a nice chunk of money. Additionally, the free cable internet we've used since December 2005 will expire in June, so I need to scout around and see which company offers the fastest service at the lowest cost.

I still believe cable offers the fastest service in my area and it's what I'd prefer to keep. Traditonally, it's also been more expensive, so we'll see how badly they wish to convert us to paying customers!

I do believe that the DSL provider can be persuaded to either leave our price at the current rate or possibly reduce it $3.00, as they have an ongoing promotion for new customers and it's $3.00 less than what I'm presently paying.

One thing's for sure....folks were right, there is no going back to dial up! I'm presently driving a lot less due to high gas prices and if I have to, I'll slim the gas budget further to pay the increase in broadband! I'll keep you posted.

  1. I've used both. I don't feel either is faster. DSL and Cable are pretty much the same. So go with whichever gives you a better deal.

In my area, cable internet is ridiculously high. Plus I've found I like Earthlinks service...
