Pumpkin Luminaria Lights
So B. surprised me on Sunday by buying me a set of miniature lights for my cube. As you can see from this photo,
I secured an extension cord to the overhead cabinet by taping it. A gal's gotta have a little lava lamp night light, you know. Problem, I covered the connection slits by doing so! No problem, I'll unplug the extension cord and, using a utility knife, uncover the second connector slit.
So there I am first thing Monday morn, unraveling the strand of lights from its case and pinning them to the cube wall, in eager anticipation. I never thought to simply plug in the lights to ensure they worked. So I plug them in and.....nothing. They don't light, not even a solitary flash or blink. Disappointed, I take them down and place them haphazardly in the box.
I phone B. explain that my luminaria's don't light and it's like, "no problem. I have the receipt still. Just give them back and I'll exchange them." I give them back, B. connects them to an outlet and they light. They're a nice, shiny orange. "Must be the extension cord," says B. I return to work, plug them in and nothing.
Well, at least I didn't hang them up, right? I mean, that really would've upset me more. I sit and go about my day, the little strand of pumpkin luminarias staring at me. Late afternoon, I have a delivery and boxes fill my cube. A lone sheet of paper sails to the floor and as I bend to retrieve it, I note that the extension cord is unplugged!
