Weekly Capsule
- My wonderful spouse took yesterday off to be with me during my root canal. I make no excuses or apologies about being a whimp and a sissy. I didn't ask spouse to accompany me, however, it sure was wonderful having the support and it went a long way to calming me.
- Enjoying my first meal in one week was wonderful! I could chew the chicken on both sides - heaven!
- Watching White Chicks and laughing so hard, I thought my face would stay frozen in a smile!
- Thank the Lord for Showtime (Dead Like Me) and HBO (The Wire) reairings of Sunday night shows. I'm all caught up and disappointed that two of my favs have ended until next season. It always goes so fast.
- Attending the Dia de Los Muertos procession and exhibit. Live bands, food, gorgeous artwork and sculpture and Aztec dancers - a feast for the eyes, ears and soul! The cultural creativity and vibrancy was electrifying and I had a wonderful time. I don't know why I hadn't attended in the past. I've been missing out big time.
- Making certain to vote, feeling that this time it would count.
- Woe, first thing Wednesday morn. At eight thirty, B. phoned bearing the bad news....Kerry's conceded victory to Bush and phoned his congratulations. A knot forms in my stomach and I feel very sad and disppointed.
- Prop. 66 - would have amended the three strikes law to not include minor offenses (i.e. shoplifting, petty theft, etc.) - did not pass and that was a bright spot.
- Listening to music by Joe Satriani and Steve Vai that my nephew to turned me onto. Guitar is one instrument that I greatly appreciate and these CDs are a feast!
- J's last day at work (she's having a lumpectomy 11/4), sending her off by buying tamales and O.J. and everyone eating breakfast together. J. was very happy with the surprise and said how much she appreciated everyone's well wishes and support. We'll see her in six to twelve weeks, after she's had radiation treatment.
- Conflicting reports of Yasser Arafat's demise: dead, alive, in a coma - no one seems to know for certain. What is certain, is that his passing will cause turmoil in the middle east that will affect us all.
- Taking two Tylenol in preparation of suffering through a long, boring *itch session - er, staff meeting.
- Daytime heats us with lovely 70 degree temperatures, but when the sun goes down, we dip into the mid-forties and that is no fun. It's too cold and rain is forecast for today and tomorrow. Bummer!
