I live in Southern California and live the digital lifestyle. I love technology, engage in social networks and thanks to the Amazon Kindle enjoy reading again. I listen to many podcasts and am interested in the paranormal. I don't go ghost hunting or anything like that, but I love reading, viewing and listening to a great fright!

There’s been a lot of buzz in the press about hearing loss as a result of listening to music too loudly via headphones and ear buds on a MP3 player. Apple Computer has responded to concern by releasing a software update that allows iPod owners to limit the volume their iPod may play.
Personally, I wonder what ever happened to taking personal responsibility for oneself? I do not wait for someone else to take care of me or tell me that I should not play my music full blast. Common sense and a desire to hear dictate how loudly I play my music or podcasts. Obviously, there are lost folk out there waiting to be led to safety and sanity.

So I was thinking about the number of times and variety of formats that I have paid for a particular album. No surprise one of the many is Elton John’s Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy. Originally I bought it on vinyl, then bought it on cassette and finally on CD and I have to say that each media averaged $12, so essentially I’ve paid $36 for the same album three times.
This is absolutely ridiculous and I’m not doing it anymore. Of course, I’ve decided this after buying two CDs I owned only on vinyl. So I was talking to Power Ranger, our audiophile at work, about my decision and his viewpoint is this is precisely why I should buy all of my music online. I pay for it once, burn it to CD and since it’s digital, I am free to do whatever I want with it!
Now for being the audiophile he claims to be, he totally shocked me because I firmly believe that any compression is never good. Whether I'm burning a CD from AAC, WMV, MP3, etc. there is still compression resulting in degradation of the original source. Any opinions?

Peter Frampton Frampton Comes Alive!
Name your three favourite songs from the 1970's.
Deep Purple Smoke on the Water
Derek & the Dominos Layla
Rod Stewart Maggie May
I tried not to repeat the same artist in multiple categories because all of these qualify as my favorite from that era. It was an awesome era and I stuck with one genre of music. This list could go on! LOL

Today's officially Boo's birthday but we've been celebrating and enjoying ourselves all weekend long. LOL We're both off from work and getting ready to go and 'do lunch' with my mom and just relax and enjoy Boo's special day. It's been a four day weekend of eating, celebrating and eating some more!
I thank the Lord for the day He created you. You've brightened my life and brought me so much joy, love and happiness. You complete me and I'm not being cliche. I love you and adore you and hope that you have had a wonderful birthday, Boo.
XOXOXOXO

Commuting to Santa Monica this weekend, we were caught in snarled traffic due to protestors waving banners, chanting, shouting, blowing air horns and waving American and Mexican flags from the freeway overpasses. Our commute extended by forty minutes as lookie loo drivers slowed to a crawl to view the protestors and read the signs. The jammed traffic allowed for photo opps as we waited! LOL
Okay, I finally have new additions and still don't understand the long drought I've experienced, but at least I'm on my way to ending it. Perhaps it's because Spring has arrived!!
I am not a huge Michael Jackson fan, I wouldn't even say that I am a fan today. However, I do appreciate his past work and for this reason bought the History DVD, because I love the Thriller mini-movie, as well as the Billie Jean and Beat It videos.
I also bought Led Zeppelin's Inside Led Zeppelin purely out of a desire to see the band perform some of my favorite songs. Afterall, it's not like I'll ever get to see them live or anything.
Finally this CD of Three Dog Night live at the Forum is an old favorite that my sister G. would play a lot. The vinyl's been long lost and forgotten, so I opted for the next best thing. I listened to it all day yesterday and it was like coming home. Oh the memories just flowed.
I've been feeling very nostalgic and have desired to buy things I've considered over the years, but have failed to follow through. There's something very exciting about peeling away the cellophane and opening the jewel case. It's like Christmas all over again only the gift of music just keeps on giving. I feel like a little kid on Christmas morning! LOL
Ooooh, Boo surprised me with tickets to see Van Morrison at the Hollywood Bowl on April 21st - the first concert of 2006 and I am ready! It was especially sweet since it was a total surprise. I think I mentioned a year or so past how I would love to see him in concert. Didn't know how much Boo was listening - thank you, Boo!!

Your cat will be attracted to what you are interested in or doing at the most inopportune moment!
Oh, isn't this the truth. When I started snapping photos Buddah was no where to be found or nary a meow out of him. Two snaps later there he was in the center of things telling me several things about it and refusing to move. I gave up trying to read the newspaper years ago!

After using both for three months I have to say that cable internet is much faster, but does it warrant a $20 monthly price increase? Ah, there's the conundrum...I don't feel it does, especially since I'm not on the net more than an hour or two daily. Now if I had a home business or was constantly uploading large files, then I'd gladly pay the $20 surcharge. Still, when we have to give up cable internet in June it's going to be mighty sad, unless, of course, the cable company is willing to cut us a price break to woo us away from DSL!
Our cable TV service has sucked big time lately and was interfering with my CNN Prime Time News and cable channels. We got them out here on Saturday and the guy took awhile to diagnose the problem as being an improper connection at the pole. Yea, he had to go climbing which I'm positive he didn't appreciate. I thought he was going to switch out our cable box which is a combo DVR and I was ready to scream bloody murder because I have taped shows on both boxes. Thankfully, he just had to climb in the rain and fix it.

People have gathered aroung the corner all day creating a memorial for a second grader who was struck and killed this morning on his way to school. From the moment I pulled to the curb and observed the gathering, I knew it couldn't be good. As night fell, I could see the candle light and swelling crowd.
About two years past the intersection of today's fatality was made a four way stop. Yet, cars still speed up and down the street and many do not come to a complete stop. The poor child never had a chance as the vehicle was an SUV, poor second grader must have been struck by the SUV's grill.
Remember to say "I love you" to your loved ones. We only have the present moment.

The closure of the Robinsons-May department store is very sad for my mom and I who enjoyed shopping there. Of course, I preferred shopping when they were simply the May Company. I've bought clothing, shoes, televisions (yea, they used to sell televisions and large appliances pre-Robinsons buyout) and countless other items over the years. Robinsons-May has now been gobbled up by Macys and many malls have both anchor stores. The great consolidation is on resulting in more job losses and fewer options for shoppers.

Has anyone else noticed the decline in commercializing Easter? I know it's still early, but previous years have had major displays in stores of bunnies, candies, decorative outdoor light sets, etc. I haven't seen any and noticed the ads are very subdued. Perhaps as it nears they commercial onslaught will ensue unabated?
The purse is getting heavier and the shoulders are drooping, so I need to find a solution for all the gear I carry on a daily basis. I carry a cell phone, PDA, digital camera and MP3 Players (both the iPod and Muvo). The iPod is used during commute and the Muvo at my desk and during lunch, both contain different content.
The cell phone doesn’t have a camera and, even if it did, it would be too low resolution for my taste. My all around daily camera is 2 megapixels and I don’t believe Verizon offers a 2 meg cam phone, anyone care to enlighten me otherwise?
I could use my iPod as a quasi-PDA to store numbers and appointments but, it does not have software similar to AvantGo (operates on Palm and Windows Mobile OS) which allows me to download news articles, blog entries, etc. for reading at my leisure, something that I do daily and would be lost without.
So, now that I’ve stated my case about why I can’t streamline any of these items, does anyone have a bag they’ve used/tested and can recommend? Please my shoulders are depending on you! LOL

It's very normal to stumble upon film crews in Los Angeles for television shows. Yesterday they were filming a segment for the new TV show “Pepper Dennis” starring Rebecca Romije. I admit to being unfamiliar with her work.
Rebecca Romije is dead center playing a news reporter.
What I found most intriguing was the canopy set up to control the lighting and shadows cast. Two large cranes were erected on either side.
This canopy is the result of the two cranes pictured above.
We watched the filming a bit while on break but honestly, after they re-shot the same scene like five times we left as it had become quite boring. All my shots had to be from above as the production crew had the area cordoned off.

10 songs that sum up your weekend...or were on your weekend playlist...and one picture that relates back. (oh, and if you feel like it, tell us why you picked the songs you did)
So this week's photo is uber appropriate for my song list because it's so totally sixties! I was feeling the pop vibe as we worked on the Garage Project and pop's upbeat sound and rhythm was perfect. So here's a question for you, how many artists in the photo can you identify?
~ The Beatles She Loves You
~ Sly & The Family Stone Everyday People
"There is a blue one who can't except the green one
for living with the fat trying to be the skinny one
We got to live together.
I am no better and neither are you
We are the same whatever we do.
You love me, you hate me
you know me and then
you can't figure out the bag I'm in."
~ The Rolling Stones Satisfaction
~ Righteous Bros. You're My Soul and Inspiration
~ The Rascals A Beautiful Morning
~ The Supremes Nothing But Heartaches
~ The Monkees Valleri
~ The Small Faces Itchycoo Park
~ The Temptations I'm Make You Love Me
~ Sherley Ellis The Name Game
"Come on everybody,
I said now let's play a game
I bet ya I can make a rhyme
out of anybody's name
The first letter of the name
I treat it like it wasn't there."

Another weekend of the Garage Project produced more goodies for the scavengers to partake of. Everything we put to the curb is scooped up within two hours by men driving broken down pick up trucks. We think these are their work trucks and in actuality they drive post 2001 full size pick ups! What we ban to the curb they probably turn right around and sell at profit, of course.
My trusty DeCatf mug holds my steaming liquid of choice infusing me with energy and vitality to go to the garage and get work done. This cat looks like I sometimes feel. LOL

We were enjoying a delicious meal of chicken parmesan and ten herb chicken when it began hailing. Most folks were caught unprepared sans hats, umbrellas or coats, so pretty much folks just scurried for cover. We observed the deluge from inside the warmth of the restaurant and slowly ate hoping it would all be over by the time we finished. It was and we merrily made our way to the mall to exchange items. It was a freezing day for Angeleno's....48 degrees to be precise and we would be very happy if Mother Nature would send us sunshine and heat! It snowed in Tujunga which is a scant 1,800 feet above sea level. I think it's snowed only twice in the town's history.
Finding that I own the entire series of Harry Potter DVDs and have yet to view any, we thought it would be a good night to start. So, I'm off to view the first in the series, having decided which is first by observing the dates of release that's right, I don't know the sequence of the Harry Potter saga. Sad as I am, I admit that I've not read a book, either. My friend Rae and her brother DD have read each book and viewed every film. She's buys two copies of the hardcover upon release, it seems brother and sister never learned to share! LOL
