I live in Southern California and live the digital lifestyle. I love technology, engage in social networks and thanks to the Amazon Kindle enjoy reading again. I listen to many podcasts and am interested in the paranormal. I don't go ghost hunting or anything like that, but I love reading, viewing and listening to a great fright!

~ Stay home with Boo and Buddah enjoying the day doing whatever comes to mind. I love my home and it's my refuge.
~ Going to concerts.
~ Watching a good movie on movie night with our neighbors and watching their reactions. LOL Especially if it's suspenseful or scary.
~ Exploring new cuisine and dining experiences.
~ Sitting outdoors and feeling the breeze as I watch Buddah play.
~ Doing/saying something silly that makes Boo laugh real hard.
~ A gentle hug and caress from Boo.
~ Catching my mom off guard and making her laugh so hard, she starts coughing. It's rare, but doable.
~ Spending time with mom doing everyday/ordinary things that most take for granted.
~ Music. All kinds of music. Take my TV, but leave my stereo, computer and MP3 player alone!

Pre-concert many arrived early to secure as good a parking space as is possible at the Greek Theater. We're literally parking on the grass and picnic area of Griffith Park and there's no feeling good about reducing the green stuff to dirt and mulch. Most folks brought their libations and food and just chilled. It's also painfully obvious why the parking is called Stacked Parking.
After hanging out for about an hour, Ozomatli took the stage at 7:30 p.m. They were gyrating and mixing it up from the start with their nfectious energy. Their sound, from Los Angeles natives, is pure Latin and the percussion is outstanding! They ended their eight song set by leaving the stage, instruments in hand, and marching into the audience chanting "Ozomatli. Ya se fue Ozomatli!" The crowd ate this up and gave them huge props.
The main act, Los Lonely Boys, took the stage at 8:45 p.m. and they rocked their hearts out. Man, Henry can make that guitar sing like it's on fire! Ringo plays the drums so hard and fast that it reverberated in my chest. Jojo the bassist and also singer has a voice that is deep heralds back to the early days of rock and roll. Los Lonely Boys are three brothers from a small Texas town and their lyrics and style are very reminiscent of early bands.
Henry and Jojo brought the house down when they played the guitar and bass behind their backs, with one hand, on their heads and with their eyes closed. They played about five songs of new material, with two of them being the first time performed in concert and I really feel they have another hit release on their hands. The concert was fantastic and Ozomatli was the perfect band to open for Los Lonely Boys.

We went to the fair today, which is located near the beach. The weather was perfect with no humidity and plenty of sunshine. We didn't buy much but spent a lot of time in the Toy Exhibit. Yea, I'd say we spent a good 1-1/2 hours in the toy exhibit looking at toys from the fifties, sixties, etc. Boo spent an inordinate amount of time focused on the marble and top collections. I didn't know such a variety of marbles existed. I was focused on the board games of yesterday and.....lunch pails. Anyone remember those? Omigod, I had a Partridge Family and Brady Bunch pail and if only I'd had the foresight to save them.
We saw some amazing stuff created with Lego's. I can't imagine the time, patience and expertise to create them. I know I couldn't do it cause I'm too impatient. Oh, I saw the bendable/poseable Gumby, Pokey and Speed Racer. Didn't know Speed Racer came bendable. I wanted a Gumby, but instead Boo bought me a top. Yea, like I'll know how to use the damn thing! I had never seen a top with string. Seriously, I had to shoot a mini-video of the gal demoing it or I'd never be able to use it! So many things to see and reminisce about.
I was disappointed with the Visual Exhibit because everything was standard, everyday stuff. No altars this year or mixed media. It was either straight photography or ceramic or sculpture. The works were amazing and creative, just quite predictable. Last year's presentations were very much extraordinary. Alas, the Hobbies & Crafts exhibit while a kaleidoscope of color and rich variation of material, were scaled back. The quilts that were displayed, were suspended from the ceiling and largely difficult to see and appreciate the craftsmanship.
Tomorrow's a new day with the Ozomatli and Los Lonely Boys concert at the Greek Theater. This time we're arriving earlier rather than later, hoping to secure a decent parking space and I will follow the main route out of the venue, rather than opt for the scenic route. Either way, both routes spill onto Los Feliz Blvd. and I must still contend with the traffic snarl!

Top Five "Weekend" Songs (Interpret as you like)
Led Zepplin The Song Remains the Same
Eric Clapton Cocaine
Joe Cocker With a Little Help From My Friends
Rolling Stones Gimme Shelter
Aerosmith Last Child
Hey, did anyone else hear about the Rolling Stones inviting fans to create set lists for their upcoming tour? Fans should go to www.stones.com to select which songs they want to hear live. The Stones are performing at a variety of venues from small to stadium and hope that no concert will contain the same set list. I know I'd want to hear Gimme Shelter, Wild Horses and Jumpin' Jack Flash. Suggestions?

CNN's Showbiz Tonight aired a four part feature on the popularity and impact of the iPod on listeners and the music industry. It was a very interesting series and illustrated how hot an item the iPod's become. Everyone wants to be seen with the white earbuds dangling from their ears. I know that everywhere I go I see at least three people with the white buds, not everyone is holding an iPod in their hands. They're usually tucked away in a pocket, purse or backpack. Driving to work this morning, I spotted two gals exercising with the iShuffle conveniently dangling from their necks. White, slim and light is in, folks! Oh, but I digress, the iPods do come in colors. My bad!

So Microsoft's finally decided to release a new OS in 2006. I don't know if Vista is its code name or release name, but if it is the release name, they better plug all the holes prior to release. No one can expect better Vista's if it's fraught with poor coding, weakness for buffer over runs, and is poorly beta tested. It's bad enough that I have to install all kinds of third party software to compensate for all the spyware, viruses, hijacking and malware.
Back in May 2005 I bought a Belkin brand powered USB hub for $19.99. It was an impulse buy at Fry's; you know the kind where the product is placed near the checkout line with all the candy, corn nuts, CDRs, etc. I needed a powered USB hub and didn't want to spend a lot of money, so the price was perfect. Well, last week it died. Yea, it's been two months exactly from date of purchase and it's dead? I know I didn't spend a lot of money, but forgive me for expecting a product to work for at least a year.
Anyway, I returned to Fry's and they exchanged it for the same product, because I'd exceeded the 30 day return window. I'm alright with an exchange and am willing to see how long this Belkin lasts. I'm giving it the benefit of doubt that perhaps, I bought a defective model to begin with and it was a fluke. Stay tuned because you know I'll tell you if it dies on me anytime before a year. I'm relieved that I didn't buy a Belkin brand router. I went with D-Link and have been very pleased with them and their tech support. Belkin will have to prove itself by lasting longer than two months before I recommend them or invest in any of their other products.

10 Great Commercials
~ The Travelocity gnome. That little dude travels everywhere, getting massages, having his baggage handled, etc. and he's too cute. I love it when he's getting a facial and has little cucumbers on his eyes!
~ Charter Communications Cable has Tom, the average computer user who clicks on everything he receives or sees. "Hey, I've got email from the Netherlands!" Click. "Hey!" (skull and crossbones flash on his screen). "What? Who's Nobuku?" Click. "No!" (he gets the blue screen). Reminds me of many a computer user I know. LOL
~ Air freshner commercial (the brand escapes me), where the husband is in the living room farting it up. The wife enters to find a fan attached to the dog's tail. Each wag of his tail results in a swat diffusing the fart odor.
~ The Geek Squad has the Soccer Mom whose computer has just crashed as she tries to print. The camera zooms away from the house's interior as we hear the woman scream "NOOOOOOO!" The black and white VW Geek Squad cars zoom to the rescue. I've had my share of NOOOOOOOOOOO! moments, so I can relate qute well. ;-)
~ SBC Communications trying drum up DSL subscribers shows a homeowner in his bathrobe approaching his den. Seated in the den is another man surfing the net and answering email at blazing speed. The homeowner asks, "What are YOU doing here?" "Oh, I thought I'd drop in before you got up to use your computer." The homeowner looks out his window at the house next door and asks, "Have you even gone home!?!"
~ Honda commercial which shows two men, each in a stall sitting on the commode. Man 1 is speaking into his cell phone. He asks a question and Man 2 responds to Man 1's question. This goes on until finally Man 1 tells his caller, "I'll call you back. Some fool in the next stall keeps answering!"
~ All of the commercials for the iPod have been great. Even their billboards adverts are cool.
~ The Oscar Mayer weiner commercial where they sing "Oh I wish I were an Oscar Mayer weiner..." is too cute with the children and their high little voices. These have been around forever.
~ The Jack in the Box commercials are pretty funny. Not only for their visuals but also the dialogue is quite witty. Mr. Jack has some terrific comebacks.
~ Oh yea, the one with the dog and cat left alone in the house while the human goes to work. What pet owner can't relate to that? Anyway, the human returns home to find the house all torn up. It's funny and the animals are quietly lying about looking like angels! LOL

I've put it off as long as I can and I miss listening to music when I'm in the den. However, the thought of having to re-rip my music collection leaves me brain dead. Remember my computer fiasco when I only wanted to add RAM to the old computer? Well, when the computer went, so did my music collection - all of it. Thankfully, I have it all on the original CDs but having to start anew from ground zero is something I would prefer to avoid. Alas, I can't stand it any longer, so I'll start tonight.
This go round, I'm passing up the MP3 route and going for Windows media files. WMA files are smaller in size and sound much better. My Muvo plays both and I'm glad because when I bought my MP3 player, I didn't know I'd want to use something other than MP3. What a rude awakening that would've been! I download a lot of Podcasts and, for the most part, they're MP3 which is fine, since they're primarily voice/spoken word. For music, though, Windows Media has it going on, IMHO. Comments? Of course, there's also AAC (what the iPod uses) but, a)I don't find its quality better than WMA and b)don't know if my Muvo will play these files.

Would you believe my work computer's finally been upgraded to windows XP? I can't believe it. Sure the upgrade took our techs two days, who cares, my computer has actually stopped crashing. I don't receive numerous Run Time errors when visiting web sites. My programs no longer hang indefinitely. No more Windows 98 - my God, I thought I'd never exit 98ville. It's the same old computer, which means I still do not have USB ports, but I can cope. I am elated - elated - to have Win XP. I actually hugged the shy tech who quipped, "Ohh, a .... very satisfied customer" as he adjusted his glasses. All the gals laughed and the poor guy skidaddled out of my cube. My bad! But you know what, so what?! LOL
While eating breakfast I rose and went to Twi's cube. She was quietly sipping coffee and downloading new photos from webshots. I invited her to join us, without asking the others, and she declined. Now, I'm very good at keeping a poker face, just ask Boo, but I think I failed miserably today, because Twi responded strangely to my "Okay" as I walked away. As if she'd read something in my body language, tone or facial expression. She probably saw my disappointment and yea I'll admit, I felt a little hurt.
She showed up a minute or so later and said, "Okay, I guess I'll join you." There was a brief awkwardness when the others realized what I'd done. I filled Twi in on our discussion, offered an egg and toast and she participated. The others listened for the longest time before participating. I was undeterred. I don't know where my stubborness came from. I wasn't going to be discouraged or defeated. Twi's staying and they need to deal with it. About ten minutes later, they fell into line and all was forgotten. I felt very happy when Twi told me "that was fun!"

Sissy's been visiting off and on since Thursday night. Our neighbor's dog sitting and Sissy is so affectionate, friendly and happy, she puts Punky to shame. Sissy's family had a tragedy during the week, so we say that she's on vacation at Club Med because she gets hugs, massages, lots of holding and carrying and kisses. Whe she visited in February, her dad complained that she returned so spoiled and he didn't know what to do with her! :-) Of course, none of us acknowledged his observation or accepted responsibility. We just told our neighbor to tell her brother that "when Sissy comes here, we do things our way. If he doesn't want her so spoiled, then he shouldn't ask you to doggy sit!" Dad's going to be very unhappy again.

Have I told you all how much I like Circuit City? I love this electronics retailer because they have kick ass prices on new CD releases. This week I bought Carole King's two CD set The Living Room Tour. It contains all of Carole's hits from ... yea, it's been that long...the seventies. Her voice still sounds strong and beautiful as it did at the height of her success. She's accompanied by two guitarists and Carole on piano - that's it. The tunes are melodic, soulful and refreshing. I'm really enjoying it.
I also bought Carly Simon's Moonlight Serenade. Yea, any Carly fans know that she hasn't realeased anything for awhile. It's a cover CD of many ballads and Carly's voice is beautifully suited to them. The orchestration's are nice and hearld back to Sinatra. I'm not saying Carly's as good as or better than Sinatra. Carly's too unique for such a comparison, just as old Blue Eyes is. These CDs make for great listening in the office, which is exactly where I enjoyed them!

I know you've given up on me by now, but I really had to give my answers to 10, 5 and one year deep thought. Not to mention having to rack my memory! I didn't want to gloss over with trite answers. So here you go, let's hope you don't regret tagging me. LOL
10 years ago- Wow, hard to believe how quickly time flies. I hated my job, but Boo and I had emerged victorious from years of working on our relationship and individually. I felt like my life was starting anew from that point forward. All of the hard work, tears, fear and exploration had culminated in a serenity I didn't know existed. I felt so lucky, blessed and grateful to have come out the other end intact with a much stronger marriage and commitment to each other. We had found equilibrium again and were soulmates.
I also experienced the meaning of "People enter our lives for a reason or a season. When the time comes they sometimes leave." I was released by two mentors who I love dearly to this day and owe many, many thanks to for their wisdom, energy, nurturing and support. I cried many tears about the loss of these relationships, but I now appreciate the wisdom and meaning of letting go and moving forward. Indeed, there is a synchronicity in The Universe. Nothing happens by accident or coincidence.
Finally, I was at a spiritual crossroads for many years and it came to a head about the same time that my relationship was falling apart. I felt empty inside and I began looking inward and upward. I didn't know what I wanted to call the Supreme Being (Yahweh, Higher Power, God, Goddess, Buddha, The Universe, etc.), but I could feel that what I wanted was already within me. I just had to stop long enough to reflect and cultivate it.
So ten years ago, I found my spirituality and it is what carries me through each and every day. Note that I'm not talking about religion, but spirituality. I had it rough for several years and it's no coincidence that my marriage and spiritual crises occurred simultaneously. In retrospect, the Lord couldn't have timed it more perfectly. I was an orchid withering on the vine and if I was going to bloom again, it was best that new seeds be planted.
5 years ago - I'd already moved to a new position and loved my job. I was joyous about being a cancer survivor of two years, but also despising the label such an illness placed on me. No one wanted to insure me. It's like, "Wait three more years. Once you pass the fifth year, then you're safe and considered cancer free." Yea, whatever!
I also suffered a work injury that left my back a mess. Talk about pain. It was bad. Really bad. Emotionally, mentally and spiritually I was great. Physically I was a total mess, but because of where I'd been, not even this was going to get me down. I did a lot of physical therapy and Boo was at my side through it all reminding me of my goal. I'm all better now through the grace of God.
1 year ago- I was worried that my little guy Buddah wouldn't make it. He had a thyroid condition and cyst that we couldn't regulate. He had lost a lot of weight and was very weak. Our regular vet wasn't so sure he'd make it. I could see it in her eyes. We drove him to Irvine for radiation treatment and I prayed and prayed. Isn't it funny how everything else pales in memory? This is the event I recall.
The radiation specialist was very reassuring that many cats benefited from the procedure with no side effects. One year later, our little 13 year old Tonkinese is sprightly as a kitten and giving me a lot of lip! He's a talker and he keeps me a on tight schedule. LOL Life has been very good for us. It really has. If you'd told me fifteen years past that I'd be feeling this good, I would've answered "rubbish!"
Yesterday- I talked to my mom and she was sounding very weary. It might have been the heat and terrible humidity. I felt sad because I thought of her mortality. I became even sadder when I thought of the great loss it would be for me. I love my mom very much.
Tomorrow- It's gonna be a good day, but I can't worry about that. I have today to live. Life is very good and I feel very blessed. I'm confident that whatever God brings to my door tomorrow, He will help me handle. On the other hand, what's immediate? Laundry, helping my mom and enjoying life!
5 snacks I enjoy- Popcorn, Polly seeds, ice cream, jello, tapioca pudding. Notice there's nothing very healthy on the list. Note to self: improve eating habits, especially in the snack area. Of course, my faves are popcorn and ice cream. I love ordering popcorn via mail order. They have a delightful chocolate and jalepeno variety that's heavenly!
5 songs I know all the words to- The Beatles In My Life, Elton John Your Song, John Lennon Just Like Starting Over, George Clinton Atomic Dog, The Beach Boys God Only Knows. Damn, my list looks like an oldies but goodies compilation. What's up with that? Humph.
5 reality television shows I watch- I'm not into reality T.V shows. They bore me to tears. Oh wait, I lied. The new MTV show That 70s House is pretty funny. It's totally retro with none of the digital amenities we're used to. The young folks have to navigate and live their lives daily in this backward house.
5 television shows I watch daily- Wow, that's a lot of T.V. I watch City Confidential, American Justice, Forensic Files, Emeril Live and They all air daily, but I don't watch them daily. I'll watch each program at least once in a week's period, though.
5 things I would do with $100,000,000- Buy a house with two on a lot so my mom could live with us. Pay off one major bill for loved ones to give them some breathing room. Invest and save. I would buy a house with a gorgeous large front porch that extended to the side of the house. I love sitting outdoors, especially on a warm evening.
Notice, I didn't mention quitting my job. I love my job and I would keep working. I'm too young to just sit around and I'm really not one for traveling. Though, I might travel to meet blogging friends in RL. That's one thing that I do miss about the old days of BBSs. Because everyone was more or less local, there was greater opportunity to meet in person.
5 locations I would love to run away to- Italy, Amsterdam, New Zealand, Tahiti, Alaska.
5 things I like doing- Photography, blogging, attending concerts, spending long weekends with Boo and doing whatever, watching good indie flicks. The cable company learned about my temper when they turned of Sundance and iFilm channels. Boo was like, "Oooh, you're mad. I'll be in the living room." I gave the cable dude an ear load after they turned off my channels for the second time in a year. They can touch any other channel, but leave my indie film channels alone!
5 things I would never wear- Four inch stiletto heels, micro mini-skirt, back brace, big black wrap around sunglasses (senior citizens wear those and then they're all brave and try to run you over!), Depends (I'd rather have surgery to correct incontinence).
5 recently seen movies I like- Spanglish, War of the Worlds (the special effects were awesome but Spielberg forgot the film should have a story), The Pacifier, Big Fish, Hide and Seek.
5 famous people I'd like to meet- Jesus, the Dahli Lama, Bill Gates, Steve Wozniak, Martin Luther King, Jr.,.
5 biggest joys of the moment- My relationship and Buddah, my mom, loved ones, employment and health and, last but not least, my relationship with God.
5 people to tag- Andrea, Lady Starlight, SAP, Otto, Boo.
When the time comes they sometimes leave." It is so hot and humid that sitting outside didn't help. There is absolutely no breeze and the heat just hangs, like a veil covering my face. It's hot, am I repeating myself. It's so hot, the notebook computer's running very warm and toasty and I've had difficulty posting. Remember, I'm one that loves the heat, warm temps - bring them on. But, can you put a lid on the humidity? Even showers aren't helping, the minute I exit the shower, I'm just as sticky as when I entered. :-(

This week I thought I should just go with the first theme that popped into my head and as I stared at my computer monitor, no suprise, the topic I thought of was computers. So here it goes-
1. Is there more than one computer in your household? Oh definitely. We have three of them, though, only two receive a lot of use.
2. What brand of computer is your favorite? Of the ones I own, it would be the new clone. It's blazingly fast and has a lot of RAM and gigs of space!
3. What brand do you currently own? I have HP's and the clone.
4. How many hours weekly do you spend on your computer? At least seven. The blogosphere has me hooked and spending so much darned time!
5. Is your blog site your only website or do you have more? If so, list them. I do have more, but none that I'm willing to discuss.
6. How many people, on average, do you talk online to in one day? Hmmm, two to three and I totally enjoy my exchanges with them.
7. How many songs, if any, have you downloaded in the last week? None.
8. Have you ever lost an entire school paper or essay because your computer froze or didn't save your file? I've lost work projects and felt like screaming at the top of my lungs! LOL
9. If so, how long did it take you to retype it? Oh, it was a good two hours work.
10. What is the longest amount of time that you have spent on the computer? Probably, four hours in one day and stretch. I try to regulate the computer time and get outdoors.

Isn't it funny, how as a teenager I wanted to protect my privacy. I didn't really want to share my thoughts. God forbid, my mom should find my diary or journal or whatever. Such a faux pas would lead to a serious B.F. (bitch fit)! Now here I am years later and I'm blogging. I'm sharing my stories. My thoughts. My dreams. My experiences. I'm willing to let it all hang out. I guess this is irony at its finest.
Only now, I seem more at a loss about what to write about, because I'm cognizant of the repercussions from Corporate America if I disclose something they deem inappropriate. It's proven to be quite a hindrance and I wonder how other folks address this issue? I've even read about prospective employers doing internet searches on job applicants to see if they have a blog or participate in Newsgroups and, if so, what they write about.
Initially, I had set up the blog to be identified by initials only but, suddenly when faced with the need to name my blog, I couldn't come up with anything else, save my first name. Brilliant! LOL I've already committed the first deadly sin. I've considered starting anew elsewhere and personally emailing those I wish to maintain contact with the new URL. Only, that seems so...I don't know...Disingenuous?
Shouldn't I be willing to stand behind my comments and opinions? Thoughts, anyone? Although, I'd certainly feel less inhibited if I didn't have to worry about Corporate America or future employment prospects.

I had an interesting conversation with a co-worker this morning about computer problems that had been plaguing him for about two years. He was using an illegal install of Photoshop on his Win 98 system (he didn't want to risk corruption on his Win XP system) and was having to reinstall Photoshop every three months. He asked me if I have a firewall, which I do, and which I'd suggested to him two years past. He didn't want the expense of buying one and the inconvenience of installing a software firewall but, with his software failing almost every other month, he was desperate to stabilize his system.
Well, he said that early 2004 he suspected someone had hacked his system. So, after speaking with his cousin and being told again to install a firewall, he finally installed a software one. It immediately showed him that there was ongoing outbound attempts and that Adobe kept trying to enter his system. He immediately uninstalled the pirated Photoshop and other miscellaneous software and the attempts stopped. Now he's worried that the software companies will come after him for using illegal copies, which is highly probable in today's climate.
What I'm wondering is has anyone else heard of or experienced this? I was telling him that it's been rumored for several years that software companies have this capability. This is partly why so many people abstain from registering, especially online, but his is the first that I've personally heard about it. Quite chilling conversation too, as several of us were by now gathered and listening intently. Another person commented about a similar experience involving his entire music directory being corrupted. He admitted to having pirated music intermixed with legit copies, but all of his music was corrupted and unlistenable.
I am so glad that I don't do this activity and have not installed any kind of file sharing programs on my new or old system. I would be very concerned about being unable to completely irradicate all remnants of malware or spyware. I suggested to both that they completely reformat their drives and start over from scratch. Very eye opening conversation on a Monday morn. The last thing I need is an unstable or corrupted system. I have enough problems when it's operating fine! LOL

10 songs that sum up your weekend...or were on your weekend playlist...and one picture that relates back. (oh, and if you feel like it, tell us why you picked the songs you did)
~ Level 42 Something About You
~ INXS New Sensation
~ 38 Special You Keep Runnin' Away
~ Cyndi Lauper She Bop
~ Simply Red Holding Back the Tears
~ R.E.M. Losing My Religion
~ Hothouse Flowers Don't Go
~ Tears for Fears Everybody wants to Rule the World
~ Styx Mr. Roboto
~ Big Country In a Big Country
I don't know what was up with the music selection. Everywhere we went, eighties music was playing. I felt like any minute Adam Curry would walk out and do the Top Ten Countdown!

Coconut chicken soup, Spicy noodles and Siamese chicken rice
~ Cleaning the terrace and realizing I've been spending all of my outdoor time in the backyard. I used to love my terrace. What's up?
~ Dining at our favorite Thai restaurant and enjoying two delicious new dishes, both suggested by our server. Man, she was dead on with her suggestions.
~ After dinner, we were on way to Wal-Mart when Boo remembered the farmer's market. The evening was warm, about the warmest we've had in some time. Cruising the Monrovia Farmer's Market, we were amazed by its size and variety. We hadn't been for about two years.
~ "I can't feel my legs anymore!"
A child's remark to his mom after sitting in a Wal-Mart shopping cart far too long.
~ Boo, excitedly opening the Stanley Workbench bought on eBay. I have yet to buy anything from them, but Boo's going gangbusters! LOL I know, I can't say anything about it since I'm always at Fry's. :-(
~ "They're looking very good. Just a very slight change in your reading prescription."
Optometrist's observation. Great. It's the slight change that comes with age.
~ Watching War of the Worlds and being dazzled by the special effects. Tom Cruise's performance was typical, nothing different. If you've seen him in one film, then you've seen his full repertoire. The story was thin as well. The special effects, however, should be viewed on the big screen at least once. Otherwise, wait for the DVD.
~ "Damn, why did you buy a mega popcorn and mega soda? We're going to dinner afterwards."
Damn the theaters for super sizing everything.
~ Dining at Wood BBQ in Arcadia and beating the dinner rush. The BBQ tri-tip and baby back ribs were delicious, tender and succulent. Punky, Emmet, Boo and I had a leisurely dining experience and great time, despite the crowds that followed. Everywhere we went we found great parking, seating and service.
~ "Oh, let's go look at the Borders books."
An hour later we emerge with Emmet having bought five books. The rest of us were good.
~ Boo's Palm Zire 71 keeps losing its charge and having to be reset. Anyone experience this?
~ Watching Hide and Seek after seeing it in the theater and really enjoying the alternate endings included on the DVD. This is a psychological drama along the same lines as Secret Window.

I've been using the Wi-Fi connection for about three weeks now and am loving it. It's fast, convenient and transparent. What's not to like, right? So today I took the notebook to the backyard and was surfing the web. Now, I have yet to find another Wi-Fi signal when surfing from the interior of my house. However, once I neared some condos, I got five Wi-Fi signals, all of them strong, three of them unprotected and looking very inviting. That is, of course, until I remembered the article about stealing Wi-Fi and it being a felony.
I immediately moved far away from the condos, back into my territory where I could once again see only my network. I'd always suspected that I lived in a very wired neighborhood, I just didn't know where to look. Quite by accident, isn't that how it usually happens, I stumbled onto them. I'm relieved that there are no other Wi-Fi signals in my immediate area, because it would be too tempting to just slip onto one and see what's going on over there! My friend just got DSL and found that her computer was too old and slow to bother with installing an ethernet card. Instead she went out and bought a new notebook with built-in Wi-Fi. I explained to her what to do prior to going online. You already know she didn't do it and now her system's messed up and infected. Why did she even ask? LOL She's trying to get her sister's friend to come over and clean the hard drive and set up the router. Live and learn.
I've been feeling very uninspired. Nothng captures my eye or fancy and it's been very disappointing. I've been looking at other blogs for ideas and, though, I'm always amazed at the beauty in simplicity and how easily they seem to embrace and capture it, it doesn't transfer to me.
I wish I could view my environment like an alien who's just landed and is seeing everything for the first time. I imagine I'd be amazed by the most mundane things. What strikes your fancy or captures your eye? Any ideas for inspiration? Thank goodness tomorrow's my flex day. I need it and this was a short week for me! Why can't I win the lottery? Lord, when my ship arrive? LOL

Tomorrow is it...the last day I'll have access to my pacbell.net email. I've had this email address since 1994 and its connection has been consistent and never, ever faltered. I thought changing email addresses would be a lot harder than it's been. I've adjusted and am not as sad. All of my contacts have migrated to the new email address, I'm using a gmail account. I don't want to commit to a POP3 account anymore. I have one of course, it came with the new DSL service, but I don't give that address out.
It's been a pain trying to remember to re-subscribe to email lists I enjoy. I've also been trying to figure out what to do with all those unread emails. You know, the ones I didn't view because the dial up had become so painfully slow, I rarely checked my email. Now they've added up to 600 unread emails and believe it or not, I once entertained the idea of forwarding them to my new address for viewing later.
Alas, I've decided just now to chuck them all. I can't possibly be serious and I realize the absurdity of even considering it. LOL I must've been out of my bloody mind! So instead, I'm just letting the account go dead. I'm not even bothering to delete the emails. When they pull the plug or flip the switch, whatever it is they do, it can all go into the giant bit bucket and literally byte it!
