Ripping Tunes to new Computer

I've put it off as long as I can and I miss listening to music when I'm in the den. However, the thought of having to re-rip my music collection leaves me brain dead. Remember my computer fiasco when I only wanted to add RAM to the old computer? Well, when the computer went, so did my music collection - all of it. Thankfully, I have it all on the original CDs but having to start anew from ground zero is something I would prefer to avoid. Alas, I can't stand it any longer, so I'll start tonight.

This go round, I'm passing up the MP3 route and going for Windows media files. WMA files are smaller in size and sound much better. My Muvo plays both and I'm glad because when I bought my MP3 player, I didn't know I'd want to use something other than MP3. What a rude awakening that would've been! I download a lot of Podcasts and, for the most part, they're MP3 which is fine, since they're primarily voice/spoken word. For music, though, Windows Media has it going on, IMHO. Comments? Of course, there's also AAC (what the iPod uses) but, a)I don't find its quality better than WMA and b)don't know if my Muvo will play these files.
