Thank you, Lord for a glorious day! We went to Solvang today with the express purpose of having Anderson's pea soup. Well, we arrived mid-day and took our time strolling and shopping. The weather was, dare I say....fabulous! There was a slight breeze and it was a vey nice 75 or higher degrees. While it hasn't changed much architeturally, it has become more commercial and lost some of its quaintness.
All the stores still close up at 5:00 or 5:30 p.m., so if you're not there by mid-day, there's no point in continuing forth. We took a lot of photos and the time to notice the surrounding neighborhoods which, surprise, very much resemble any other neighborhood in the United States. The houses are not designed around the Danish theme.
As luck would have it, we ate a traditional Danish meal of pork, cabbage and mashed potatoes very late in the afternoon and, hard as we tried to walk it off, we weren't hungry for pea soup when the time to leave arrived. No surprise there, huh? It was nice to go on a nice drive, the majority of it along the Pacific Coast, and view the rolling hills and the magnificent ocean. I had an excellent adventure!
