Joke

I know there are great many for whom forwarded jokes, pictures and comics are the bane. You have productive lives to lead and forwarded emails are a huge waste of time. Well, I happen to enjoy a good joke, picture or comic. This one made me laugh and think of whole lot of males I should send it to. Hope it gives you a chuckle:

Dear Tech Support:

Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0. I soon noticed that the new program began unexpected child processing that took up a lot of space and valuable resources. In addition, Wife 1.0 installed itself into all other programs and now monitors all other system activity.

Applications such as Poker Night 10.3, Football 5.0, Hunting and Fishing 7.5, and Racing 3.6 no longer run, crashing the system whenever selected. I can't seem to keep Wife 1.0 in the background while attempting to run my favorite applications. I'm thinking about going back to Girlfriend 7.0, but the uninstall doesn't work on Wife 1.0. Please help!

Thanks,

A Troubled User

Dear Troubled User:

This is a very common problem. Many upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0, thinking that it is just a Utilities and Entertainment program.

Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and is designed by its Creator to run EVERYTHING!!! It is also impossible to delete Wife 1.0 and return to Girlfriend 7.0. It is impossible to uninstall, or purge the program files from the system once installed. You cannot go back to Girlfriend 7.0 because Wife 1.0 is designed to not allow this. Look in your Wife 1.0 manual under Warnings-Alimony/Child Support.

I recommend that you keep Wife 1.0 and work on improving the situation. I suggest installing the background application "Yes Dear" to alleviate software augmentation. The best course of action is to enter the command C:\APOLOGIZE because ultimately you will have to give the APOLOGIZE command before the system will return to normal anyway.

Wife 1.0 is a great program, but it tends to be very high maintenance. Wife 1.0 comes with several support programs, such as Clean and Sweep 3.0, Cook It 1.5 and Do Bills 4.2. However, be very careful how you use these programs. Improper use will cause the system to launch the program Nag 9.5. Once this happens, the only way to improve the performance of Wife 1.0 is to purchase additional software. I recommend Flowers 2.1 and Diamonds 5.0!

WARNING!!! DO NOT, under any circumstances, install Secretary With Short Skirt 3.3. This application is not supported by Wife 1.0 and will cause irreversible damage to the operating system.

Best of luck,

Tech Support

The Thursday Threesome

From the Cataloger- ::Against All Odds::

Onesome- Against: Is there anything you are vehemently opposed to? Or just something that gets you up on your soapbox? Abuse. Abuse of another being: human or animal. It's wrong. It's never excusable or explainable.

Twosome- All: Is there something that you have to give all or nothing to? My marital relationship. I give it 100% because it's the most important relationship of my life.

Threesome- Odds: Are you a gambler? What would you bet on and for how much? No, I'm not a gambler. As a matter of fact, I hate losing money. I want to touch, eat, wear, listen to, drive or read what I've spent my money on. The last thing I want to do is throw it away by betting, feeding the slots, etc.

Tagger's bedroom

This photo was taken by our personnel when they visited a parolee's home. The convicted tagger is facing parole violation charges. He's a juvenile and one can only wonder where are his parents?

Woo-hoo, I just bought my first one gig CF card for my digital camera. Whew, hopefully no more problems with not enough cards or cards being full. When I went to the Fair last weekend, I had to borrow my friend's card because my 256 meg was full and I didn't want to delete any photos. Thank goodness my friend had an extra!

Here's the best part: out the door the one gig card cost $79.99. After a $20.00 mail-in rebate (which I always submit), the total will be $59.99 - unbelievable! A year ago the same size card would've cost $150.00. I love technology and I love it even more when the prices come down!!!

Midweek Music

There can be only one

Lately I’ve been thinking about songs that define a situation, mood, or even a person. At any given time, I’ve had a particular song that has defined who I was at that moment, and which one it is varies, but there’s one that I keep going back to.

What is your lifelong theme song, the music and/or lyrics that defines something about who - and how - you are? The Beatles In My Life. The lyrics speak to and describe me. I've never been as happy and fulfilled as I am today.

Why is it okay for cyclist's to run red lights and disregard traffic/safety rules? Just let a motorist strike the cyclist, even when he's clearly in the wrong, and see what happens to the driver.

Tuesday Twosome

FALL...

1. Two things you love about the FALL: The holidays it brings (i.e. Halloween and Thanksgiving)

2. Two things you dislike about the FALL: The dampness and longer nights.

3. Two things do you want to accomplish in the FALL: Lose 15 pounds and finish reading one more book.

4. Do you enjoy the changing of seasons and why: Okay, I can hear the laughter...L.A. doesn't see much change in the color of leaves or weatherwise but, what little we do see is significant to us and therefore it does matter!

5. Two colors that exemplify FALL for you: Gold and orange.

2. What shows are on your favorite channel?

City Confidential

American Justice

Family Plot

3. Does your favorite channel change often or are you a loyal watcher? I'm loyal but I have other channels that are equally captivating.

~Bonus~ How much of a creature of habit are you? Do you have a daily or weekly viewing schedule? Is your TV or Cable programmed to switch channels even if you're not there? LOL Hey, have you been spying on me???? LOL I time shift a lot and yes, when I'm gone, I'm still time shifting. I have a TV with PIP (Picture in Picture) and I love this feature. At first, I thought it a very dumb feature. Live and learn!

Gorgeous display in the Garden Center

Baker's Dozen

- Nothing rings in autumn like the arrival of the L.A. County Fair. Lots of rides, food, exhibits, and walking.

- "My sausages hurt!"

- "What happened to the quilt building?"

- Both in-laws on a major rag at the same time, so what else is new?!

- Spouse: "I swear, the older they get the more childish they get. I thought I was the child!"

- Experiencing the urge to fly a kite. Yea, it's the wrong season and I don't know where to go to buy one now. Anyone want to hook me up with a used one?

- "Aerial kite photography kicks ass!"

- "The colors of the flora and fauna are just brilliant and astounding!" (Floral exhibit at Garden Center)

- Finally catching up on video of Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, and The Dead Zone.

- Yea, homemade pizza and chocolate milk. "This is a meal."

- "Whoa, they're reairing The Sopranos from the first episode starting Monday."

- Encore presentation of The Wire's first two episodes on Friday, October 1st.

saturday-8 :: storms and repairs...

1. my neighbours have had boards on their windows for weeks, letting in virtually no natural light. even though there was the possibility of another storm coming, would you keep up the boards (and raise your electric bill), or could you not handle the absence of natural light and air? I would need the natural sunlight and fresh air. As it is, I get sick of being indoors at work and inhaling recycled air, I couldn't stand that type of environment in my home. LOL

2. we're running out of gas in central florida as everyone's run for the pumps. when was there last a shortage of anything in your area? Probably back in 1992 during the Northridge Earthquake. There was a run on generators and water with many folks price gouging.

3. i got my new (used) mercedes s-class last night. today, the battery seems to have died, but WE CANNOT FIND IT. when was the last time your battery died? tell us about that. LOL That would be about two years ago. It was a used car and the previous owner was very meticulous - thank God - she had a receipt from Wal-Mart in the glove compartment, indicating the battery was less than two years old. Armed with it, I went to Wal-Mart and got a new one!

4. i can't seem to be able to reach my mechanic, and i've left him 3 messages. when was the last time you needed to reach someone desperately, and they were unavailable? Uh, two days ago, but in all fairness, he let me know he'd be unavailable.

(PS - should ANYONE know where the battery compartment for a 1992-1999 w140 chassis mercedes ... the s-class ... PLEASE leave a comment! i can't even download a manual for less than $100 or get a diagram up!

5. my mechanic's wife asked for the money i owed her - about $4K - immediately when we'd previously agreed that i'd pay it off over a period of months. mr. laura paid it on a credit card (luckily he had the room), but i'm not pleased. when was the last time someone changed the rules on you? It happens all the time, that's life. Unless there's a sign agreement/contract, anything and everything goes. Learn from this and next time, insist on a written agreement.

i-Gizmo Theme: Music

This band jams with blues, zydeco and jazz. If they're ever in your town, treat yourself and check them out!
Weekend Wonderings

1. When someone offends you, do you let them know or let it slide? It depends on the individual. If it's someone I can talk to, I let them know. If not, I will wait for the appropriate time to set them straight. Know with certainty, that I will let them know I've extended them the courtesy of not publicly humiliating them and they best not offend me again, because I won't wait the second time.

2. Do you think of yourself as shy or outgoing? I'm outgoig with those I intimately know. Among strangers and co-workers I'm shy.

3. Do you usually have a pretty free schedule or do you have something planned for every night? I'm busy and each weekend is planned in advance. I'd be lost without my PDA's calendar and reminder alert function.

Teardrop Trailers

The rectangular item above the water is the camp stove. The large white square on the right is the fridge and the lantern is between the fridge, the water and behind the wine glasses!

I first laid eyes on one of these during a Travel Channel special on RV travel/living. I was immediately smitten with the Teardrop trailer and longed to go camping. I haven't gone camping in so long, that I am feeling the need to get away and commune with nature. I can't do tent camping anymore because it's just too darn hard on the back and neck. The ground's hard no matter how you try and cushion or camouflage it!

We went to the Fair and I was ecstatic to see the Teardrop for sale and find a local manufacturer. These trailers are ideal for anyone who doesn't have/want an SUV in order to tow a trailer. They're compact - super compact - as the photos illustrate, but this is also what makes them extremely portable and light weight.
Friday Feast

Appetizer

On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being highest), how attractive do you think you are? I think I'm average, so I'll say five.

Soup

What local restaurant would you recommend to a visitor to your town or city? For good ole American cooking, the Main Street Diner or for seafood there's Weylands.

Salad

What's a lesson you had to learn the hard way? Don't easily trust people. Actions speak much louder and truer than words.

Main Course

Name something in your life that you feel you can depend on 100%. My spouse and Buddah.

Dessert

If you could see the front page of a newspaper from September 24, 2104, what would you imagine the headline might be? The Commute continues to lengthen in all metropolitan cities.

Bathroom Stall

So I enter the stall fully aware that the adjacent stall is occupied. I can hear scurrying sounds, like she's rummaging through her purse. My floor view shows me she's wearing sandals, nothing unusual about this. It's been in the high eighties and low nineties here - super, super sweet! Anyway, the rustling continues and the left foot disappears. It momentarily returns with strips of TP between each toe. It disappears again and reappears with a fresh coat of nail polish. So began my Thursday morning.

Now, please know that we have an area where you can sit and paint your toe/finger nails to your heart's content. We have electrical outlets for you to blow dry your hair even, so the balancing act in the stall is quite unnecessary.

My thoughts return to the present and the sound of her nail polish slipping off her leg(?), breaking and splattering on the floor. She now has three toenails on the left foot painted a hot red. Now would have been a good time for a camera phone!

3x Thursday:: Musicality

1. How do you get your music/new music these days (radio, tv, internet, friends)? What kind of music are you into right now? I still buy my music from amazon.com or at Circuit City, Best Buy or Costco. I never pay over $11.99 for a CD, I don't care how badly I want it.

2. By which medium do you recieve music? Do you still buy CDs, or do you buy the albums in digital form? Or both? I buy the actual CD, I don't buy AAC or MP3 or WMA files from online music services. I'm stuck on wanting the best quality possible, so it's the actual CD for me!

3. What is your opinion about downloading music without purchasing it? Do you believe it really hurts record sales? Is anyone but the RIAA really suffering? If you're speaking of the usual form for rating record sales, then of course, it hurts record sales. A new system of measurement needs to emerge and become mainstream that gauges online music sales and sales via the Net. The record store conglomerates are from an outdated era.

I think artist deserve to be paid for their work and creativity, hell, no one wants to created and work for free - come on now! But, I think it's also incumbent upon artists to band together and dismember the old system and regime. Stop signing your rights and likeness away for the promise of a coveted contract.

Open your eyes and see that ownership of the music and lyrics is key. If you sign it all away, don't bitch at me (the listener) you're taken advantage of. Your sightsighted want for gain got you into this me, not me. Reinvent the system by refusing to sign with labels and maintaining control and ownership of your music.

If the labels don't get new acts, they're gonna have to come to the table eventually. They'll realize that artists aren't willing to be paid Pennies on the dollar for each album/song sold, while the labels walk away with 80% and distro with 15%.

Bonus Question for Comments: Do you think that the internet a good source for new (or stuff you'd never really think about listening to) music? How? Why/Why not? I think it is if you know Where to look. There are a lot of folks that say, "the best way to find new music is to go directly to a band's site." Okay, but that implies that I am aware of their existence to begin with and, armed with their name, can begin to search for their site.

There a lot of band's who I'm unaware of - a lot. There's no central site or server where indies agree to post their music, gigs, or information. It's a free for all. Sure we have IUMA and garage band and we used to have MP3.com, but none of these are The site where indies agree to post their info. I think if we get that, eventually indie artists will have a location where they can jump off and promote their music.

The Thursday Threesome

Crockpot Marmalade Chicken::

Onesome: Crockpot-- Hey, Winter is just around the corner! Does that mean crockpot meals for you? ...and how about the students: When you get home for the holidays will Mom have had something simmering all day? Oh yeah, these are the easiest and tastiest meals to prepare and the house smells so wonderful when you come home.

Twosome: Marmalade-- Chunk style or creamy? Do you even do jams, jellies and peanut butters with bits and pieces in them? ...or is that something you like have stocked on the shelves? I buy jams and jellies with chunks no problem but, when it comes to peanut butter, it'd better be creamy and smooth.

Threesome: Chicken--pot pies? Do you love 'em or hate 'em? Simple, -eh? ...and if you love 'em, where do you find good ones? ...or is that even possible ? I like chicken pot pies and I find them at The Claim Jumper or the diner of Main in my town. A delicious and hearty meal!
3x Thursday:: Musicality

Parking in L.A.

Those of us who Live and Die in L.A. (as the movie's titles says), know that L.A. has a parking shortage that inevitably causes problems. Coupled with the fact that Angelenos are in love with their wheels - the bigger the better - this leads to some unique situations.

Parking nightmares/confrontations are the result of inconsiderate and lazy drivers. They want the parking space nearest the entrance - don't we all - and, since these spots are usually designated Compact, they squeeze in and force their SUV to fit. Great. Someday I'll snap a photo of the contortionist SUV driver exited the vehicle.

The poor person parked on either side of said SUV, must squeeze and contort their body to enter their vehicle or wait for the SUV driver to move their hog. Never mind that their inconsiderateness and rudeness has impacted another person, they got that coveted parking space.

Well, LAist has come up with a solution that I absolutely love and have already used. If you're fed up and tired of parking hogs, you may want to print this out and actually use it! Mine are printed on goldenrod colored paper because I want them to stand out! LOL

Fly Swatters

So Friday I'm at work minding my own business and actually working, when B. phones to tell me "I'm at Osh." "I have to buy fifteen fly swatters." Now women, you know when not to inquire, right? I did not inquire.

"We have a lot of flies in the shop, so they asked to do an Osh run."

ME: "Wouldn't it be easier to find the source?"

Spouse: Yes, we thought about that.

ME: "Why did you find it necessary to share this with me?"

So in the evening, we're discussing our day, when spouse tells me that K. was attempting to catch a horse fly and grabbed a swatter. This swatter happened to be hot pink, don't ask - I didn't and I'm not changing my mind!

Anyway, K. got a direct hit and the fly fell on the shredder. K., in his wisdom (typical male) decided it would be a hoot to shred the fly. He slides it into the feeder of the shredder and begins tugging and pulling and yelling for back up because the fly swatter is being, what else, shredded!

I tell you, some folks work harder than others. For some, work is play everyday! LOL If you want to read more about this fly swatting escapade go here.

Trust me, this is hot pink!

Music Mambo

Once again the time has come to Mambo! Autumn is just around the corner, so it's time to think of some autumn roadtripping music and new releases. There's so much music coming out in the next few months that everyone should have something new to mambo to.

1. What music makes you think of autumn? (Songs, genres etc...) Opera and classical music, especially this one CD of hauntingly beautiful whale sounds called Pacific Blue.

2. What new releases are you looking forward to this fall/winter? That's a tough one for me because I don't keep abreast of what's upcoming. I'm the kind that sees it in the Sunday ad and runs out to buy it. Same thing with movies, I haven't a clue what's on the horizon!

3. If you're making a road trip over a weekend, what music do you take with you if any? I take a variety which includes rock, disco, jazz and R&B.

4. Does your musical mood shift in autumn? (Meaning do you listen to different types of music from season to season?) Definitely, I listen to opera, classical, blues and instrumental jazz.

5. If you could see one band in the fall concert season, who would it be and why? (The band has to be currently touring) Again, I don't stay on top of new releases and who's touring, but I would love to see Yo-Yo Ma or an opera.

Bonus:

Make a perfect driving mix. Pick 15 songs that you love to hear while driving.

(You don't have to do this part now..think about it and post it...and we'll come back and check out your choices)

1. Everything She Wants - Wham

2. Your Sweetness is my Weakness - Barry White

3. If you Love Somebody - Sting

4. That Girl - Stevie Wonder

5. Arroz con Pollo - Maxwell

6. Dust - Van Hunt

7. Dance with Me - Marvin Gaye

8. Wild World - Cat Stevens

9. Sunset Bay - The Braxton Bros.

10. Smooth - Santana

11. Hollywood Swinging - Kool & the Gang

12. Blue Money - Van Morrison

13. Angel - Rod Stewart (very early Stewart)

14. You can Leave Your Hat on - Joe Cocker

15. C'est La Vie - Robbie Nevil

Moody Monday Theme: Mixed
Monday Madness

1. My recliner is the most used piece of furniture in my house.

2. The one electronic 'gadget' that I use most often is my digital camera.

3. My favorite appliance, and the one I absolutely cannot live without is the microwave.

4. One thing that I thought I just HAD to have at one time, and I now barely ever use, is my regular blender.

5. I find it easiest to keep in touch with family and friends via email.

6. I own more cd's (or other music media) than I do DVDs.

7. All my important addresses are stored in/on my PDA.

8. If I had to live without TWO keys on my keyboard, I would choose the bracket keys.

9. I probably own about five pieces of software that I haven't used in years.

10. There are a few food items that I try NEVER to run out of, and those would be tomato sauce, rice, eggs, milk, bread.

A day in my life

My nephew's started junior high this year. The school had the wonderful idea of having a BBQ, three weeks into the school year, to welcome new students and their families. By all accounts, it was a smashing success!

Weekend Wonderings

Pirating

1. Do you think that the RIAA is right in trying to stop the downloading of music for free? They're in the business of making money. Look at how artists are treated; they sign away their likeness and rights for cents on the dollar, unlike authors. The RIAA has a vested interest in making certain piracy ends, so in this sense, they have to stop it.

Do I agree with their methods, no. Piracy would not be an issue to begin with, had they not gouged listeners. We buy music because we love to listen to it but, in their lack of wisdom, they repeatedly overcharged us for a product that costs them pennies to manufacturer.

They've been greedy - plain and simple. They force us to pay exorbitant prices for a product with maybe only one song that we like, instead of giving us the music we want, the way we want, when we want. They went to the lawyers and started suing and taxing sales of blank CDRs.

2. What are your thoughts on pirating (music and/or software)? If you're unconcerned about the legal woes, go for it. I didn't download from Napster before the suing started and I am not risking it now, it's not worth it. I like my music to be good quality and can hear the difference between a MP3 and a commercial music CD. What I have done in protest is purchased less music - a lot less. If it's not $10.99 or less, I don't buy it. I don't care how badly I'd like it. The music can kiss my butt!

3. If a person is caught pirating (music and/or software) what do you think the punishment (if any) should be? Have them do community work with teens about the perils of pirating and give speeches to groups (PTA, Women's groups, Toastmaster, Chambers of commerce, etc.) educating and alerting them how to tell if they're child's engaging in piracy.

The Thursday Threesome

::Girl Scout Cookies::

Onesome: Girl- Girls' (or boys') Night Out- Do you ever just feel the need to drop everything and go hang out with your pals? What do you all do when you go out? Something "wild" like partying at the bar, or something as "mild" as just hanging out at a coffee shop and discussing the latest books you've read? Or do you head over to a pal's house to watch the big game? Nah, my spouse is my Best pal and we hang out together all of the time. When I do feel the need to socialize with others, then we go with family! LOL

Twosome: Scout- Were you ever a scout as a kid? Which branch? Did you join willingly or was it something you did because everyone else was or your parents thought it would be "good for you?" I always, always wanted to be a girl scout, but finances were tough and time for meetings and outings even shorter. So I never had the opportunity, but I think it's a great organization and wonderful experience for children.

Threesome: Cookies- What's your favorite kind of cookie? What's the strangest cookie you've ever had or heard of but been too afraid to try? And do you buy Girl Scout cookies? Which ones? Has to be the thin mints and yes, I support the Girl Scouts. What are the white cookies covered in coconout called? I don't like them because they're too sweet.

Midweek Music

Make a wish

What memory do you have that involves a birthday and music, but not the old standard song “Happy Birthday to You”? I once ditched school to celebrates a friend's birthday. Her parents were working, so the house belonged to a bunch of teenagers. We played the Beatles song "Birthday" and tore the house up, not literally but figuratively. Man, that was a jammin' party and I returned home tired and needing rest! My friend later said it was the best birthday celebration ever. LOL

Daily Dirt

Lies, lies, lies...

1. Have you lied to someone to get what you want? Of course, we All have at least one.

2. Have you lied about yourself that people still don't know the truth about? Yes, I've withheld information from folks and to this day, I don't think they know. On the hand, if they truly don't know, they need some Serious help!

3. What's the worst lie you've told in yourl ife, ever? Hmmm, I don't believe my lies are bad enough to warrant "the worst lie". Can't think of any.

4. How bad was it when you got busted when someone found out the truth? Not bad. I just told them, "You *itch so damn much, I didn't want to hear it. And true to form, what are you doing....*itching!"

5. How do you feel when someone you trusted lied to you right in the face? It depends on the severity or complexity of the situation. If it involves only them, it's all cool. If it involves others and conveniences others or me then, get the hell out of my face.

Evacuation Drill

So today we had another drill and this time, my section maed certain to dispense with the coffee mugs, donuts, and suitcases on wheels - just the Bare essentials please. We evacuated at 10 a.m. and began returning to our office at 11:15 a.m. Many of us were ecstatic with the nice respite and didn't mind standing in 80 degree overcast weather. Bottled water was passed after thirty minutes and as I looked around I saw: people chatting on cell phones, folks moblogging, folks eating breakfast (yes, they balanced their plates while holding scalding coffee), folks tapping and jamming to their CD players, iPods and whoa, cassette players. And of course, there I was with my digital camera snapping a few shots!

Trying to evacute a 26 story building in fifteen minutes time, is not a feat easily accomplished!

Slight confusion about where each floor should congregate in front of the L.A. County Jail.

Socializing during the wait.

We return, trailing the preschoolers in daycare.

Our unit received rave reviews because we weren't snacking or drinking hot fluids. I received an inquiry about my camera, which I immediately passed off as used for photos to post on our company intranet! The gentleman bought it and I continued snapping. What's a gal to do standing in a parking lot for over an hour? The blogger in me sprang forth and well, things happen!

Judge shows

Court shows have been around a long, long time. From Judge Wapner and his bailiff Rusty to a tough little lady named Judge Judy there's been a lot of different faces and a lot of cases decided in under 30 minutes.

You're the jury this week, it's your job to see all the evidence and render a verdict!

Judge shows, what do you think? Some our informative and entertaining, others are plain stupid and a waste of time. Especially when the parties are allowed to extend verbal insults at each other until commercial break and re-enter still bantering.

1. Do you have a favorite judge? Least favorite? I always liked Judge Wapner. I couldn't stand Larry Elder.

2. If you were given the chance would you settle a court case on a judge show? No. I want a fair chance minus the theatrics and reshoots. I don't need that form of attention.

3. What's the silliest case you've ever seen on a judge show? Two sisters fighting over payment due for an obese niece's food consumption. Niece vacated sister A's house for sister B, who didn't want her niece roaming the streets. The niece ate so much, sister B was having to work lots of O.T. and when the dust settled, sought payment from sister A. Sister A said, "No way. You took her in, she's your responsibility. You should've minded your own damned business. I ain't paying you s___!"

~Bonus~ Imagine it, you've got your own show and now you're a judge, what would your show be like? Cut and dry, by the book. Substantiate your case with Evidence. No he/she said without hard, tangible evidence!

3. In a cone or cup? A sugar cone

4. Sprinkles or plain? Plain

5. If you could invent your own flavor of ice cream, what would it be and why? Are you kidding, I'm not that creative.

FIL

I forgot to update that FIL's been released from the rehab facility as of Tuesday. His spirit is strong and he said he knows that he almost died. He's very happy to be alive and be home, sleeping in his own bed and relaxing at will. He'll continue physical therapy twice weekly beginning next Tuesday at the same facility. They seem to have done wonders for him at Country Villa in Murrieta, CA. He now admits to having been depressed for some time and credits Country Villa and their nuturing and supportive staff for his dramatic improvement.

After visiting him today, I can see the improvement in attitude and willingness to continue doing whatever is necessary to remain healthy. He talked for several minutes (a rarity for him) and only momentarily mentioned that MIL has been on a rampage since his return home. She apparently was so upset with him, that she took off just after we phoned to announce our arrival! LOL I feel we all agreed that it was best that she was not present. It made for a much more relaxing and happy visit.

Blogger

Blogger's been giving me problems lately when it comes to posting entries. Either it takes an inordinate amount of time or they never post. Tuesday night I had a heck of a time posting photos or text. It remained in a loop with the message "Posting is 0% complete". I couldn't exit the posting screen or refresh or anything.

The next day, nothing I posted Tuesday night was showing. However, after adding posts for Wednesday, then Tuesday's posts showed. I like Blogger a lot, but the slowness and difficulty posting are becoming more frustrating. Am I the only user being affected?

I'm committed to continue using Blogger because I feel they provide a wonderful, easy to use service. I'm sure they're experiencing growing pains, just as all businesses do when they're expanding, upgrading and adding improvements. I just wish I knew if my experience is universal or unique.

Moblogger snapping discreet shots!

Another cellphone photographer.

It seems like everywhere I go, I see folks snapping shots with their cellphones. I still have a standard cellphone that only makes calls. I don't even have text messaging activated! I suppose my next purchase will have to have a camera - preferably a 1 megapixel, anything less and why bother?

2. What'll be your "weapon of choice"? A magnum gun and a whip!

3. How would you dress? Black, skin tight leather, baby!

4. Who'll be the first person to be victimised by you? A bully, any bully will do.

5. What'll your bad ass name be? Dominatrix

3x Thursday:: If I could, I'd...

1. If you won the lottery, and could win as much as you wanted, how much would you take? What would you do with it? I don't have a concept of how much I'd take, but it would have to be enough to buy - in cash - housing for all of my loved ones and friends. I would also like to donate large sums to Cancer research, Habitat for Humanity and Pet Rescue.

2. If you could have any car/truck/environmental killing machine that you wanted, what would it be? It would be the Toyota Land Cruiser.

3. If you could, would you want to be a professional student? Why/why not? If so, what would you study? Absolutely, I'd love to be. I'd study languages, history, art and criminal justice.

Bonus Question for Comments: Does it take a lot of money and goods to make you happy? How much/little? Why/Why not? No. I learned what was most important at an early age and I'm thankful God gave me this gift.

Flex Days

I'm very grateful and happy that I work a flexible workweek that allows me to be off every other Friday. These three day weekends allow for taking my mom to various doctor appointments, spending quality time with her and extended visits with FIL during his hospitalization and subsequent stay at a rehab. facility. All of these things would otherwise cause me a lot of stress, as I would strive to juggle and fit it all in on the weekends. Not to mention, that many HMOs don't have weekend testing - it's the weekday or forget it.

I felt the need to count and acknowledge my numerous blessings. I think it's too easy to remember them when something's gone wrong or thing's are bad. I'd like to thank God for all the goodness and positiveness in my life and in those I love. It's never too late to say thank you or remember that there is much light.

Midweek Music Theme

Back in the Mesozoic Age

Since I often listen to classic rock and ‘80’s rock stations on the radio, my kids have gotten to know a lot of music that came out before they were born - or in some cases, even before I was born (one of my spawn is a big Beatles fan). Sometimes it causes mixed feelings, to realize that they are singing songs that I enjoyed when I was their ages or even younger, but overall I think it’s terrific.

What is your favorite song that was written before you were born? Jerry Lee Lewis's Great Balls of Fire. I love the energy of this song and the happy foot stompin way it makes me feel!

4. Have you ever changed youself just to please others or to fit in a group?

Sure, isn't it a rite of passage for teenagers? I've tried to "fit in" a good part of my life, but have finally learned that I am truly okay as is. I'm happy with me and anyone who isn't, can go screw him/her self.

5. Have you ever wished to be someone else? Who? When I was younger sure. I can't remember who, though.
