Evacuation Drill

So today we had another drill and this time, my section maed certain to dispense with the coffee mugs, donuts, and suitcases on wheels - just the Bare essentials please. We evacuated at 10 a.m. and began returning to our office at 11:15 a.m. Many of us were ecstatic with the nice respite and didn't mind standing in 80 degree overcast weather. Bottled water was passed after thirty minutes and as I looked around I saw: people chatting on cell phones, folks moblogging, folks eating breakfast (yes, they balanced their plates while holding scalding coffee), folks tapping and jamming to their CD players, iPods and whoa, cassette players. And of course, there I was with my digital camera snapping a few shots!

Trying to evacute a 26 story building in fifteen minutes time, is not a feat easily accomplished!

Slight confusion about where each floor should congregate in front of the L.A. County Jail.

Socializing during the wait.

We return, trailing the preschoolers in daycare.

Our unit received rave reviews because we weren't snacking or drinking hot fluids. I received an inquiry about my camera, which I immediately passed off as used for photos to post on our company intranet! The gentleman bought it and I continued snapping. What's a gal to do standing in a parking lot for over an hour? The blogger in me sprang forth and well, things happen!
