saturday-8 :: furniture

my husband is moving out this weekend, and i've had to go furniture shopping as he's taken the leather couches, tv, stereo and coffee table. yesterday, in a fit of grief, i went out and purchased replacement bits on a one-year warranty. after i got home, i saw a commercial for rooms to go with a THREE-year warranty ... before i go back and cancel my order and go w/ the RTG 3-yr. warranty...

1. when was the last time you purchased a piece of furniture for your home/apartment/room? 1-1/2 years ago.

2. what was it? A 46" big screen TV

3. in the past 8 years, i've not had to buy any furniture myself ... relatives have died or moved and i've acquired pieces for birthdays. do you have a lot of 'other people's furniture' at your place? No, I can't say that I do. What I have is what I've bought.

4. when looking at furniture, do you go for the look, or for the deal? I go for the feel. If it's not comfortable, I'm not buying it. Something like a TV/stero has to have a good image resolution/sound.

5. do you have a bad furniture shopping experience to relate? if not, do you have a good one? When I bought the TV, I recevied 18 months interest free and the TV stand free. Normally, the TV stand costs another $75.00. I was one happy camper!

6. if money was no object, what decorating style would you put up? Probably, antiques.

7. are you naturally a decorator, or would you rather pay someone to come in and decide everything for you (given you have the cash on hand to hire them)? I am most definitely not a decorator. I'd have to pay someone.

8. do you watch any redecorating shows ... surprise by design, trading spaces/family, changing rooms, while you were out, clean sweep? why or why not? I watch Home & Garden TV, as well as Trading Spaces, While Your Were Out, Clean Sweep and Curb Appeal. I keep hoping some of it will "rub off on me". So far, though, it hasn't happened!
