Computers: Love 'em & hate 'em

Thank God that I have more than one computer in the household. I embarked on a new challenge today - in my inifinite wisdom - and wound up eating crow. I decided to upgrade the desktop's memory, a simple task I've performed before on other systems. No big deal, right? Wrong!

For some reason, that I've yet to figure out, the hard drive will not boot. After installing the memory and powering the computer I receive the error message "No operating system found." That's it, nothing more. I can't boot in safe mode, I did a scandisk with no errors found, etc.

I swear, all I did was install memory. I didn't go anywhere near the hard drive. The system was disconnected. I didn't zap it with static electricity. I was grounded. So the non-event turned into an event. An event I was not happy about. LOL Spouse, being spouse and having been around me long enough to know best, quickly got lost and stayed away from me for the next three hours.

Three hours later, I still have nothing new and improved to report. Of course, I'm much calmer now and have found humor in this event. What will I do now? Well, I'm not sure; it sits on the desk taken apart and glaring at me. Summoning me to, "Make a move, why doncha?" Maybe tomorrow, I'm too beat tonight.
