A Day in My Life
I believe it was last Saturday that a photo meme had community as the photo of the week. Of course, since I'm always behind I missed the challenge, but as I was relaxing at my local Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf I observed "community" all around me.
I've said before that coffeehouses have become the new community centers of this millennium, even bookstores with coffeehouses serve double duty. It used to be teenagers would congregate at the mall or local soda shop, which are mostly long gone. So now it's the coffeehouse and its adjacent businesses where the teens hang out and adults meet to relax and chat. And for the lone wolf in the physical crowd, he brings his computer to chat online with virtual friends or play online games, while being physically surrounded by bodies he doesn't connect with, but feels like he's a part of.
