We have a new station in the L.A. market Jack 9.31 FM. They've replaced Arrow, a classic rock station that played a lot of Steve Miller, Fleetwood Mac, ZZZ top, etc. I've read that L.A.'s one of the toughest and most competitive markets in North America. So I bid farewell to Arrow and gave Jack a listen. They're motto says: "We put our playlist on shuffle and play!" I'm sure the compliment to Apple's iPod is intentional. So far, I have to say that I like it. I can hear the Cranberries, B52s, The Stones, The Shins one after the other and somehow it works!

I'm being exposed to new music, something I always consider a plus, and I'm liking the variety. I can never be certain where the current playlist is headed or anticipate what I might hear next. Its fun, actually and I can't remember when I last said that commercial radio was fun. I liken it to being at your favorite pub or bar and having an iPod night. Some stranger connects their iPod to the establishment's sound system and lets it rip. Except, I get to listen to it one way better, I can take my listening experience with me wherever I go!
