Zen master Thich Nhat Hahn led a Peace Walk this morning around Macarthur Park in Los Angeles. The Peace Walk was not in direct protest to the war in Iraq. In general, it was towards all situations of intolerance and violence. I was excited and happy to attend and walk, as well as see how many people participated.
It was a perfect autumn morning for a walk, overcast but not too cold. Thich Nhat Hahn spoke to us about the power of silence in combating violence. We don't need to shout at each other to make ourselves understood. We walked in total silence and it was an amazing experience to walk among hundreds of people and not utter a word to each other.
I noted four anti-Thich Nhat Hahn demonstrators who, thankfully, displayed their signs of protest in silence. Police presence was obvious and at a distance, which made for a very peaceful and tranquil walk. I'm so glad that I was able to share this experience with Boo!
I live in Southern California and live the digital lifestyle. I love technology, engage in social networks and thanks to the Amazon Kindle enjoy reading again. I listen to many podcasts and am interested in the paranormal. I don't go ghost hunting or anything like that, but I love reading, viewing and listening to a great fright!
