The Sly, Slick & Wicked

As a young tween, my sister Alice (now deceased) took me to my first night club/concert to see the The Sly, Slick & Wicked perform among other tunes, Funkasize. Omigod, the sound, loudness and intensity of the music was as if, I'd died and gone to heaven! Especially because the club was so small and intimate, you couldn't find a bad seat in the house. I'd never experienced anything like that before. I was mesmerized by the band and the music. It was in my blood and too late to turn back.

I remember Alice feeling very proud and happy that I'd responded so positively and happily. She got up to dance and I dutifully remained seated at the table and waited for her return. I drank my first Shirley Temple that night and the whole experience was just magical. It's one of the happiest moments of my life. Like Alice, I share a love of music and can never get enough, especially when it's dance music. I miss you, Alice.
