I hate Filing

This has to be understood or nothing I share will make sense. I awoke this morning with the idea to FILE the stacks of paper that line my desk like highway markers during construction. Why I chose today is still a mystery to me. I must have had it in the far recesses of my mind, where it rose to consciousness during sleep.

Either way, I arrived at work and began filing around 10:30 a.m. The task seemed so daunting to me, that I had to take a tea break and, where I normally would return to my desk as the water heated, I remained by the microwave standing guard. Of course, when I returned with hot measuring cup in tow, the stacks of paper simply screamed at me for attention.

By 11:30 a.m. I had numerically filed one SUB-stack in a 5" binder. Do you know how heavy a 5" binder is when it's filled? I didn't either, until much later in the day. It easily weighs 10 pounds - I'm not exaggerating. It easily weighs that much. Thank God for Chaka Khan, Earth, Wind & Fire, Various R&B and Rock artists for keeping me grooving and helping maintain my sanity.

At 12:00 p.m. I necessitated another tea break and water cooler conference. While I didn't learn anything new from my work mates, I managed to return feeling refreshed and less stressed. It's as if I have a phobia about filing. I'm not joking when I say that I perspired as I filed. LOL I'm hoping this jaunt into the abyss of filing, will give me peace to stave it off again for another six months or so.

I finished filing the majority of stacks at 2:00 p.m. and decided I'd had enough. No more fiing! I closed the day by completing searches and researching lost boxes for a very frantic client. I found two of the three missing boxes, but must wait until Monday to know if the third one's been located. I hate filing. How was your day?
