DSL
I never realized what a huge difference DSL would make in my life. I'd been a dial up customer since 1984 and until recently, never gave much thought to upgrading. It was suiting my purposes just fine. Webpages were loading fast enough, until they began becoming more graphics laden.
I didn't desire to watch much video, I could easily watch it on the big screen TV. But then, time became more of an issue the busier my life became and the CNN videos were taking an eternity to stream. When they would stream, I saw a lot of pixelation and mouths moving out of synch with the words.
So what finally motivated me....music. I like music - no surprise, right? - and many artists are offering free MP3s of their work, as well as the plethora of mash ups. And mash ups can be huge files that take forever to download successfully. Seven out of ten times, my mash up downloads were unsuccessful, so you know I couldn't live with that! LOL
Followed by Podcasts. Those wonderful, creative, quirky MP3s that sometimes span two hours. Well there was no way I was going to download them on a dial up connection. So, to DSL I went at a ridiculously low price and I haven't looked back. One thing about living in L.A. is we have serious competition between the cable and Bell providers, not to mention inside fighting among the Bell's themselves. All of this spells blessings for us - the consumers. I am so digging it, too!
"And, Lo! Another escapee from the evil dial-up regime rejoices in the Promised Land."
ReplyDeleteOr something like that. :)
The best part of DSL is the ability to make changes to webpages at superfast speeds. My brother Joel finally got DSL and he can't believe he used dial-up for so long.
